Resumen.

Se evaluaron las causas de fallas en el eje de una caja reductora FALK 465 fabricado con un acero SAE 4340.
Esto se ha realizado bajo un objetivo técnico y económico. El análisis se hizo por medio de inspecciones
visuales, análisis fractográficos, metalográficos, químicos y ensayos mecánicos (tracción, dureza y fatiga). Los
ensayos muestran que los problemas en el diseño, en la fabricación y problemas en el material, son las fallas mas
comunes. Se encontró que en el 89% de los casos analizados se hallaron por fractura y flexión flexo-rotativa, el
11% restante fallo por fatiga por contacto.

Determination Of The Most Common Faults In The Axis Of A

Gearbox Through Mechanical And Microstructural Tests

Abstract.

The causes of failures in the axis of a FALK 465 gearbox made of SAE 4340 steel were evaluated. This has been
done under a technical and economic objective. The analysis through visual inspections, fracture analysis,
metallographic, chemical and mechanical tests (traction, hardness and fatigue) was done. The trials described
that problems in design, in manufacturing and problems in the material, are the most common failures. It was
found that in 89% of the cases analyzed it is due to fracture and flexo-rotational flexion, the remaining 11%
Failure due to contact fatigue.
