Sorbitan fatty acid ester called sorbitan ester, are surfactants highly safe to use on human body
and are widely used as a food additive in the production process as emulsifiers. Sorbitan esters are
well known emulsifiers suitable for use in food, pharmaceutical products as well as many other
applications. Despite its simple name, sorbitan ester is complex mixture of molecules
Sorbitan esters are widely used in cosmetics, food products, and pharmaceutical formulations as
lipophilic nonionic surfactants. They are mainly used in pharmaceutical formulations as
emulsifying agents in the preparation of creams, emulsions, and ointments for topical application.
When used alone, sorbitan esters produce stable water-in-oil emulsions and microemulsions, but
are frequently used in combination with varying proportions of a polysorbate to produce water-in-
oil or oil-in-water emulsions or creams of varying consistencies, and also in self-emulsifying drug
delivery systems for poorly soluble compounds.(1)
No se escogiò el ácido sulfurico porque no están selectivo y genera que se elabore el isosorbitano.

El mejor color supuestamente se puede lograr mediante la catálisis con NaH2PO4. Al acido
fosforico se le agrega para que se neutralice, pare la reacción y deje un buen color
