ABSTRACT.
Thesis is intended to identify leaks when they occur during a hydraulic transient. The task
of highlighting patterns of interest that are engaged in a great tangled set of information
is in various applications such as radar technology and sound , the vibrations of structures
and communication in general. In all these applications, the spectral analysis is of
fundamental importance in fulfilling this task
The tests were performed in pipe length 1250m in various flow conditions and
configurations leakage during starting and stopping of a centrifugal pump. Pressure was
transients obtained by four transducers connected to a standard computer. Tests showed
that the spectral analysis of the pressure transient, together with knowledge of the points
of reflection in the pipeline, is a simple and efficient method to detect leaks
