Un da lunes, 8 de diciembre, hace 34 aos, dej de existir uno de los msicos ms

importantes e influyentes de todos los tiempos, John Lennon.

John Lennon y su esposa, Yoko Ono, regresaban a su casa del Record Plant Studio,
cuando fueron interceptados, en la entrada del edificio Dakota, por Mark David Chapman, un
empleado de hospital de 25 aos de edad y proveniente de Hawaii, quien le haba pedido al
msico un autgrafo unas horas antes, en una copia de su disco Double Fantasy. Es ah en
donde John Lennon fue asesinado por Mark Chapman de cinco disparos, las cuales tres
llegaron al pecho y fueron muy mortales; Lennon fue llevado rpidamente al hospital
Roosevelt, donde fue declarado muerto a su llegada, a las 11:15 p.m. Poco despus, en las
estaciones locales de noticias se report la muerte de Lennon, por lo que se congreg una
multitud en el Roosevelt Hospital y enfrente del edificio Dakota.

Fue incinerado el 10 de diciembre de 1980, en el Cementerio Ferncliff de Hartsdale,

Nueva York; las cenizas fueron entregadas a Ono, quien decidi no realizar un funeral por l,
aunque se realizaron varios homenajes, conciertos y tributos en su honor.

Esta fue una de las mayores prdidas que la msica ha tenido en todos los tiempos.

One day Monday, December 8, 34 years ago, ceased to exist one of the most
important and influential musicians of all time, John Lennon.

John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono were returning home from the Record Plant
Studio, when they were stopped at the entrance to the Dakota building by Mark David
Chapman, a hospital employee 25 years old from Hawaii, who had asked the musician for an
autograph hours before, on a copy of his album "Double Fantasy". That's where John Lennon
was murdered by Mark Chapman who performed five shots, three of which reached the chest
and were very deadly; Lennon was rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced
dead on arrival at 11:15 pm. Shortly after, local news stations Lennon's death was reported, so
a crowd gathered at Roosevelt Hospital and front of the Dakota building.

He was cremated on December 10, 1980, at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New
York; the ashes were given to Ono, who decided not to hold a funeral for him, although several
tributes, concerts and tributes were held in his honor.

This was one of the greatest losses that music has had in all times.
