YO SOY CRISTIANO. POR LO TANTO, YO ESTOY CONECTADO.

Alguna vez has pensado lo que significa ser un miembro de la iglesia?
Desafortunadamente, muchos cristianos han desarrollado un punto de vista falso de lo que significa ser un miembro
de la iglesia. Muchos de nosotros hablamos sobre nuestras iglesias en trminos de lo que podemos sacar de ella. Esta
mentalidad consumista se enfoca en los beneficios que obtenemos de la iglesia, que hace sonar a la membresa de la
iglesia como si fuera la membresa de un club.

CONNECTED

I AM A CHRISTIAN. THEREFORE, I AM CONNECTED.

Have you ever thought about what it means to be a church member?

Unfortunately, many Christians have developed a faulty view of what it means to be a church member. Many of us talk
about our church in terms of what we get out of it. This consumer mentality focuses on the perks we gain from the church,
which makes church membership sound more like club membership.
In reality, being part of the body of Christ means so much more.
The Book of Ephesians helps us see the true benefits that come from our connections to Christ and His church. Within this
study well discover six ways that church members are connected: connected in Christ, connected in unity, connected in
growth, connected through words, connected in service, and connected through prayer.
Your connection to the churchyour membershipwill prove over time to be just as important as your everyday
responsibilities. During this study youll discover that, through Christ, we are all truly connected in a way that lasts not just
for a lifetime, but for all eternity.

conectados al cuerpo de Cristo.

EFESIOS 2:17-22

APLICACIN PARA LA VIDA

Normalmente nos unimos a clubes, equipos y organizaciones por las ventajas y los beneficios que
recibimos. Lamentablemente, muchas veces nos acercamos a la iglesia de la misma manera. Pero el
privilegio de ser una parte del cuerpo de Cristo no se tiene por algo que hayamos hecho o por lo cual
hayamos pagado. Por el contrario, Cristo pag el precio e hizo posible que seamos parte de la iglesia,
la familia de Dios. Pertenecer al cuerpo de Cristo es un regalo.
YY De qu grupo o equipo te entusiasmara ms ser parte?

EFESIOS 2:17-18
YY En Efesios 2, Pablo escribi que en otro tiempo los creyentes haban estado lejos de Dios (v. 13).

Les record que haban sido desobedientes, que vivan en el pecado, y que estaban sujetos a la ira
de Dios (vv. 1-3). Estaban sin esperanza y sin Dios en el mundo (v. 12). Desconectados. Sin acceso.
Excluidos.
YY Solamente por la gracia, nosotros, que no tenamos ninguna relacin con Dios, hemos llegado
ahora a ser hijos e hijas con acceso ilimitado al Soberano del universo. Y ese acceso es un regalo.
YY Cmo es afectada tu relacin cuando tienes acceso directo a alguien?

EFESIOS 2:19
YY Como un regalo, la membresa en el cuerpo de Cristo es algo que debe ser valorada.
YY No es una obligacin legalista.
YY No es un country club para recibir privilegios y prerrogativas.
YY No es una licencia para tener derechos.
YY Es un regalo que debe ser apreciado.
YY Por qu ser parte de una iglesia es como ser parte de una familia?

EFESIOS 2:20-22
YY La iglesia no es un negocio que existe con fines lucrativos o para dar un servicio a sus clientes. Es el

cuerpo de Cristo con Jess como la cabeza y el foco de la iglesia. Jess es la razn para la existencia
de la iglesia. l es Aqul que lo conecta todo.
YY Qu nos impide ver la membresa en la iglesia como un privilegio?
YY Por qu estar conectado a un cuerpo de creyentes te ayuda a cumplir con el objetivo que
tiene Dios de buscar y salvar a los perdidos?

APLICACIN
Efesios 2 explica en qu consiste bsicamente la iglesia. Cmo puedes poner en prctica esta
verdad?
YY Considera la membresa en la iglesia como un regalo. Este regalo est ms all de tus mritos
y fue posible gracias al sacrificio de Jess. Dale gracias por la oportunidad que tienes de servir
con tu iglesia en la misin ms grande que el mundo jams ha conocido.
YY Haz la pregunta precisa. Pregunta a tu pastor o a tu ministro de jvenes cmo puedes servir en
la iglesia.
YY Invita a otros a incorporarse. Identifica entre las personas que tienes a tu alrededor, a las que
necesiten que se les presente el evangelio que salva, y hazlas parte de la iglesia de Cristo.

Efesios 2:19
Ser parte de la iglesia significa ser parte de la familia de Dios. Como creyente, tienes hermanos
y hermanas en todo el mundo. Eres parte de algo mucho ms grande que un equipo deportivo
o un club. Ser parte de la iglesia significa estar conectado a una comunidad de creyentes por
medio de Cristo. Responde las siguientes preguntas:
YY Qu significa para ti personalmente estar conectado al cuerpo de Cristo?

YY De qu manera ests actualmente conectado a un cuerpo local de creyentes?

YY De qu maneras el haber estado conectado a una iglesia te ha ayudo a dar forma a

tu fe?

Juan 4:27-38
Hay personas a nuestro alrededor desesperadas por saber que pueden tener una relacin
con Jess capaz de transformar sus vidas. Nosotros tenemos que ser misioneros de l, yendo
al mundo y trayendo personas a Jesucristo. Tal como hizo la mujer junto al pozo, debemos
sentirnos impulsados a conectar a otros con Jess. Como parte de la iglesia, somos una
extensin de la obra de Cristo en este mundo. Hay personas en la vida de cada uno de nosotros
que no conocen al Seor, y como su pueblo misionero podemos ayudarlas a conectarse con l.
Una manera de hacer esto, es conectndolas con la iglesia. Escribe, ms abajo, los nombres de
dos o tres personas que no tienen una conexin con una iglesia local. Haz planes para invitarlas
a que te acompaen a asistir a la iglesia durante las prximas dos semanas.

EPHESIANS 2:17-22

BIBLE MEETS LIFE

Weve all belonged to or at minimum heard of organizations where we pay our dues and are entitled
to certain benefits in return. The problem occurs when we bring this same mentality to the church.
The Bible helps us see that being a part of the church is not about what we can get out of it. Church
membership is not about our personal expectations and having our needs met, but there is great
value in being connected to a body of believers. Belonging to the body of Christ is a gift.
YY What group or team would you be most excited to be a part of?

EPHESIANS 2:17-18
YY In Ephesians 2, Paul wrote that at one time the believers had been far away from God (2:13). He

reminded them they had been disobedient, living in sin, and subject to Gods anger (vv. 1-3). They
were without hope and without God in the world (v. 12). Cut off. No access. Excluded.
YY By grace alone, we who had no relationship with God now have become sons and daughters with
unlimited access to the Ruler of the universe. And that access is a gift.
YY How is your relationship affected when you have direct access to someone?

EPHESIANS 2:19
YY As a gift, membership in the body of Christ is something to be treasured.
YY Its not a legalistic obligation.
YY It is not a country club to provide us privileges and perks.
YY Its not a license for entitlements.
YY It is a gift to be cherished.
YY How is being part of a church like being part of a family?

EPHESIANS 2:20-22
YY The church is not a business that exists to make a profit or provide a service for its customers. It is

the body of Christ with Jesus as the head and the focus of the church. Jesus is the reason for the
churchs existence. He is the One who connects us all together.
YY What prevents us from viewing church membership as a privilege?
YY How does being connected to a body of believers help you carry out Gods mission to seek
and save the lost?

APPLY IT
Ephesians 2 lays out the meaning of what the church is all about. So how do you apply this truth?
YY View church membership as a gift. The gift is beyond your deserving, made possible through
Jesus sacrifice. Thank Him for the opportunity to serve.
YY Ask the right question. Ask your pastor or ministry leader how you can serve the church.
YY Invite others in. Identify those around you who need to be introduced to the gospel that saves
and makes them a part of Christs church.

Ephesians 2:19
Being a part of the church means being part of the family of God. As a believer, you have
brothers and sisters all over the world. You are a part of something much bigger than a team
or club. Being part of the church means being connected to a community of believers through
Christ. Answer the following:
YY What does it mean to you personally to be connected to the body of Christ?

YY How are you currently connected to a local body of believers?

YY In what ways has being connected to the church helped shape your faith?

CONNECTION PLAN
John 4:27-38
There are people all around us desperate to hear about a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
We are to be His missionaries, going out into the world, bringing people to Him. Like the woman
at the well, we should be compelled to connect others to Him. As a part of the church, we
are an extension of Christs work in this world. There are people in our lives that do not know
Christ, and as His missionary people, we can help them connect to Jesus. One way to do this
is by connecting them to the church. Below, write the names of 2-3 people who do not have a
connection to a local church. Make a plan to invite them to join you over the next two weeks.
