BIBLIOTECA, HOGAR DE JUBILADOS Y ESPACIO INTERIOR DE MANZANA, en Barcelona Un programa variado para dinamizar el uso de un espacio libre, generado

en un interior de manzana, del ensanche Cerd de Barcelona. Una biblioteca de barrio, como puerta, y un hogar de jubilados como contrapunto y cohesin social con los juegos de los nios, en el patio. La puerta, con la biblioteca, busca la identificacin y la insinuacin del espacio verde y abierto interior. Su altura, anchura y ausencia de pilares (la estructura se resuelve en los dos cuerpos laterales macizos, llenos de escaleras, aseos y libros) tiene una entrada de luz por entre las cajas interpuestas de las salas de lectura, convierte el acceso al patio en un paso filtrado de luz, a la manera como los rboles que siguen la dejan pasar. Nios y abuelos disfrutan de los espacios temticos del patio-jardn. El hogar construye un cerramiento real (como una cinta gruesa que dota de geometra clara al espacio y protege las construcciones en planta baja existentes), de calidad (es fachada y no muro) y evocadora (el vaco que genera entre los lmites, permite crear la ilusin que el espacio verde contina y crece). El tapiz de colores dibujado en el suelo por franjas (saul, hierba, flores, agua, arbustos, rboles,...) tiene su correspondencia en el cielo cuando se cuelga en los soportes preparados la guirnalda de los das festivos. A varied brief aimed at dynamising the use of an open space, generated inside a city block in the Cerd expansion area of Barcelona. A suburban Library as a town gate, a Senior citizen`s centre as a counterpoint and a social cohesion feature , with children`s games in the patio. The gate and the Library seek an identification and insinuation of the green open space inside. The height, width and lack of pillars the structure is resolved in two lateral units, filled with stairs, books and amenities include an entrance for light amidst the interposed boxes of the reading rooms, turning the courtyard entrance into a filtered channel of light, like the trees that steel allow the light to sift through. Children and grandparents enjoy the thematic courtyard-garden spaces. The Senior citizen`s centre forms a enclosure that is real like a thick ribbon that gives the space a deep geometry and protects the existing ground floor constructions -, has quality- faade, not wall and is evocative the void generates between the edges facilitates the illusion that the green zone continues and grows-. The carpet of colours drawn on the ground in belts coarse sand , grass, flowers, water, shrubs, trees-has a correspondence in the sky when the floral wreaths hang from the specially designed fixtures on holidays.
