PARASO EXPRESS, CANCIN A CANCIN:

Mi Peter Punk: Alejandro Sanz inicia el disco con toda una declaracin
de intenciones acompaada por toda la intensidad de su banda al completo
en una letra llena de dobles sentidos que refleja a la perfeccin el momento
por el que est pasando a sus 40 aos. Habla de las diferentes formas en
que el tiempo pasa para las personas. Para m, el paso del tiempo no tiene
que impedirnos conservar intactas las ilusiones y los sueos, e incluso la
rebelda y la travesura. Si creces sin querer crecer, te puedes convertir en
Peter Punk.

Desde Cuando: Aqu me entr la vena romntica. El leitmotiv de esta
cancin es: cmo puede ser que yo me pase toda la vida buscndote y
ahora que te encuentro, no seas capaz de decirme ni tu nombre? Es de las
canciones que tiene ms influencias de mi disco Ms. Es verdad que en
temas como ste retomo mucho de aquella esencia y es algo inconsciente, o
quizs la conciencia me abruma porque, probablemente, estoy en un
perodo similar de mi vida. Es la ms italiana, el baladn de los
conciertos.

Looking for Paradise: La escribimos entre Tommy Torres (el
productor de Paraso Express), Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz y yo. Creo que
va a ser una sorpresa para mucha gente porque es un dueto con una artista
que a penas hace duetos, y porque es una cancin cantada en espaol y en
ingls en la que no importa si no hablas ingls, porque la entiendes, y en la
que no importa si no hablas espaol, porque tambin la entiendes. Es una
cancin muy positiva, musical y lricamente en la que hablamos
directamente a quien la escucha invitndole a buscar su paraso, ese paraso
muchas veces est dentro de nosotros, aunque a veces nos empeemos en
buscarlo fuera.

Yo Hice Llorar Hasta los ngeles: Es una bulera en la que ms que a
nadie, me pido perdn a m mismo. Componer es una forma de desnudarte
y de mostrar tambin tus debilidades. Como dije alguna vez, no slo estn
las canciones para vengarse, sino tambin para recapacitar. Como en otras
muchas canciones anteriores, hay varias referencias a Dios. Siempre he
dicho que soy creyente y tengo mi relacin con l. Dentro de m hay un
espacio de usuarios y un administrador, y l tiene su password y pasa a
verme porque ese espacio de mi cabeza y de mi corazn es suyo.

Sin que se Note: Es muy importante mirar sin que se note porque
cuando te miran y lo notas, ya pones postura, sacas los morros.
Musicalmente es lo que yo llamo un rock elegante. Me recuerda un poco a
los arreglos que hizo Elton J ohn para su disco en directo con la Melbourne
Symphony Orchestra. Tiene tambin algo de rock sinfnico, es una cancin
con una gran produccin y suena gigante: me encanta! Esta cancin lo
agradece.

Lola Soledad: Una amiga me deca que si se la haba dedicado a Lola
Flores. Y podra haber sido. Yo creo que hay muchas Lola Soledad en el
mundo. Son mujeres con carcter, mujeres vividas, mujeres que han pasado
circunstancias complicadas, pero siempre interesantes. Quera rescatar un
poco a esa dama golfa y valiente y hacerle un homenaje a la mujer con
maysculas. Es una cancin nica, con mucha personalidad y un estilo
propio.

Pero esta tarde no te vas: Me gusta esta letra especialmente porque es
una concesin de virtudes de alguien que sabes que no te va a pertenecer
jams, que es una persona que es totalmente libre, que no tiene ninguna
intencin de atarse a tu vida, ni de que t te ates a la suya. Est toda la
cancin reconocindolo, vindolo venir, sabiendo que se va a marchar, y en
la ltima frase: yo s que eres fugaz / pero esta tarde no te vas descubre la
firmeza de l, la seguridad de que le debe al menos una tarde ms por tanta
entrega. Tiene todo el desgarro, va subiendo, y te va metiendo en la
cancin hasta que entras en el viaje.

Mala: Yo dira que es una especie de copla reggae en la que al final el
protagonista lo que dice es que a los hombres lo que nos va es la caa
reconociendo que: y no te puedo dejar / y te quiero incluso un poco ms
mala. Acaba casi como un rock psicodlico. Es otra cancin muy
particular y diferente a todo lo que he hecho hasta ahora. Estoy loco por
conocerla.

T no Tienes la Culpa: sta es la balada del disco. Creo que el piano
est magistralmente tocado. Hay una vocacin de no culpar a nadie de las
cosas que ocurren, pero tampoco a uno mismo. Por eso dice: t no tienes
la culpa/ ni yo. Soy as, mi vida es as, stas son las circunstancias. Yo
s que estando a mi lado es como si se eclipsara el resto de tu vida. Cuando
digo T me haces bello el retorno siempre me acuerdo de una frase que le
escuch a Manuel Molina: los artistas somos seres que nos vamos y
luego volvemos.

Nuestro amor ser Leyenda: Es una historia de amor en la lejana
pero tan fuerte que ni siquiera la distancia, que como todos sabis es la que
hace el olvido, puede con l. Es un medio tiempo, alegre pero emotivo,
como el resto del disco. El ttulo es muy peliculero porque yo soy muy
peliculero en el amor, y haba que ponerle ese condimento perfecto de la
distancia. La meloda y la construccin me recuerda un poco a Quisiera
ser.

PARASO EXPRESS TRACK BY TRACK:

Peter Punk: Alejandro Sanz opens the album with a full declaration of
principles, supported by all his band, with lyrics full of puns, perfectly
reflecting what he is living now that he has turned 40. This song explains
that time passes in a different way for different people. Time goes by, but
this doesnt mean that we have to abandon our goals and dreams, that we
have to stop being rebel or even naughty. If you grow up but you dont
want to, you can become Peter Punk.

Desde cuando: This is my romantic side. This songs leitmotiv is the
following: I have spent my whole life looking for you and now that I have
found you are unable to even tell me your name. This is one of the songs
with a bigger influence of my album Ms. In songs like this I revisit
much of the essence of that recording; maybe it is something unconscious,
or maybe conscience overwhelms me, because the kind of experiences I am
living now are very similar to those I lived then. This is the most Italian
of the songs, the great ballad to sing live.

Looking for Paradise: It was written between Tommy Torres (the
producer of Paraso Express), Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and me. I think it
is going to surprise many people, because it is a duet made with an artist
that does not usually sing duets, and also because it is a song made in
Spanish and English, but you dont need to speak English nor Spanish to
understand it. It is a very positive song both musically and lyrically. We
speak directly to the listeners, inviting them to search for their paradise
within, when we have a tendency to look for it outside ourselves.

Yo hice llorar hasta los ngeles: It is a bulera where I ask for
forgiveness, above all, to myself. Composing is a like undressing yourself
in a way, and like showing your weaknesses. As I said some time, songs
are not only to take revenge, but also to reconsider things. As I did in many
other previous songs, I talk of God. Ive always said that I am a believer,
and I have a relationship with him. Inside me I have a space for users and
an administrator, and its God who has the password and he drops by
because that space in my head and in my heart belongs to him.

Sin que se note: It is very important not to be noticed when you look at
someone. Because, as soon as you feel that someones looking at you, you
change your position, you make faces. Musically, this is what I call an

something of symphonic rock, a song with a great production which sounds

Lola Soledad: A female friend asked me if this song was dedicated to
Lola Flores. It might have been. The world is full of people like Lola
Soledad. They are women full of nerve, accustomed to life, women who
have gone through difficult times, women who are always interesting. I
wanted to talk about that cheeky and brave sort of woman and pay her
tribute. It is a unique song, with lots of character and a style of its own.

Pero esta tarde no te vas: I like these lyrics specially, because it lists
the virtues of someone that you know that will never be yours, because she
is free and doesnt want to get tied to your life, and doesnt want you to get
tied to hers. During the whole song, he knows it, he knows that shes about
to leave, but the last line: yo s que eres fugaz / pero esta tarde no te vas
(I know you are fleeting/ but you wont leave me this evening) he shows
his strength, he shows that he is sure that, after giving her so much, she
owns him at least one evening. The song is full of pain, it grows up, and
takes you until you embark in it and let yourself go.

Mala: I should say this is a copla reggae of sorts. In the end, the
narrator tells us that we men like to be ill-treated, and he recognises: I
cant leave you / I want you to be even more mean. The song ends being
almost a psychedelic rock. It is also a very peculiar song, different from
everything I have done to date. I look forward to know it better.

T no tienes la culpa: This is the albums ballad. I think the piano is
played beautifully. The song tries not to blame anybody, not even oneself.
Thats why it says: you are not to blame/ me neither. I am this way, this
is my life, these are my circumstances. I know that when you are by me,
the rest of your life disappears. When I say You turn coming back into a
beautiful thing I always remember something I heard from Manuel
Molina: we artists are people who leave... and later come back.

Nuestro amor ser leyenda: This song tells the story of a distant love,
but such a strong one that not even distance can kill it, although they say
that distance means oblivion. It is a midtempo, happy and emotional at the
same time, as the rest of the album. The title is very exaggerated because I
am exaggerated when I love, and I wanted to add that kind of seasoning of
distance. Both the tune and the construction somehow reminds me of
Quisiera ser.
