EL ORIGEN DE LAS
“NEURONAS ESPEJO”
● Hace más de veinte años, Giacomo Rizzolatti descubrió las neuronas espejo en el mono
macaco, junto a su equipo en la Universidad de Parma (Italia).
● Su investigación confirmó en 1996 que un grupo de neuronas se activaban tanto cuando
el animal realizaba acciones concretas, como cuando observaba a otros monos o
personas repetir lo mismo.
● El sistema también se descubrió en los humanos, con la activación del lóbulo parietal y
la corteza motora del cerebro.
● En principio, pareció tan solo un sistema de imitación ligado a movimientos simples,
como agarrar comida, pero posteriores análisis constataron que el mecanismo permitía
también hacer propias las acciones, sensaciones y emociones (imágenes que
ejemplifiquen) de los demás.

de imitar las acciones que
inconscientemente llaman nuestra
atención.
