La distribución del espacio y la disposición del equipamiento en una
instalación industrial tienen un considerable impacto en el ratio de
eficiencia y en los costes.

El layout de una fábrica proyectado según los principios lean,

consigue desde el inicio el mínimo de despilfarros, en particular los
movimientos de personas y materiales, el transporte y el espacio
ocupado. Los tiempos de fabricación de los productos también se
reducen bajo este planteamiento.

La necesidad de diseñar un nuevo layout puede estar motivada

porque se vaya a realizar una instalación industrial de planta nueva
debido al crecimiento de la compañía o es preciso ampliar las
dotaciones actuales o reorganizar determinadas áreas porque se
introduce una nueva línea productiva.

Tanto si se nos ocupamos del rediseño o ampliación de una fábrica

como de la creación de una nueva, lo que buscamos es concebir un
espacio cuya organización favorezca el flujo continuo, la gestión
operativa y sea un entorno de trabajo agradable y seguro
