2. MERCADO INTERIOR
The EU's employment policy is part of the 2021-2030 social agenda, focusing on
three main areas: employment, skills, and social protection. To achieve this, the EU has
established legislative measures related to aspects such as health and safety at work, equal
opportunities for men and women, and employment contract conditions.
Furthermore, the EU funds this employment policy through programs like the
European Social Fund, PROGRESS program (Employment and Social Solidarity Program),
EURES program (European Employment Services), and the Microfinance and Social
Entrepreneurship program.
Activity 1: Visit this website and indicate the services provided by the EURES network.
SINGLE MARKET
An internal borderless space, free movement of goods, people, services, and capital
are some of the goals that the Union aims to achieve.
The Single Market has significantly contributed to the prosperity and integration of
the European economy, increased trade exchanges, boosted productivity, and reduced
costs through the removal of customs formalities, harmonization, or mutual recognition of
technical standards. It has generated additional growth, created jobs, and brought the
income levels of different Member States closer together.
Activity 2: Visit the website and name the EU's units of measurement for the single markets
of goods and services.

● Textiles
● Agricultural Products
● Chemical Products

The EU has some of the world's strictest environmental standards. The EU's environmental
policy includes living in an environment where nothing is wasted, natural resources are
sustainably managed, and biodiversity is protected, valued, and restored. Furthermore, the
European Green Deal aims to make Europe climate-neutral by 2050 in line with the goals set
in the Paris Agreement. The United Nations Climate Change Conference is held annually
with the same goal.
The EU acts by promoting this policy in other countries through cooperation agreements and
conventions because environmental challenges have no borders.
Some of the most important strategic actions of the environmental policy are:
● The strategy on environmental responsibility, with the main principle being "the
polluter pays."
● The sustainable development strategy, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions caused by human activity without forgetting the importance of the circular
economy.
● The biodiversity strategy, which aims to protect nature by reversing ecosystem
degradation.
● The "Farm to Fork" strategy, which aims to ensure that food production methods are
healthy and environmentally friendly, especially regarding the control of plant
protection products.
Activity 5: Identify the advantages of the circular economy in the EU regarding plastic
according to this video: The European Union and Global Warming.
