- El Preterito is formed with the auxiliary verb HABER (conjugated under the Preset Perfect
Tense), plus, the past participle of the principal verb. The past participle is formed by
attaching the suffix ADO to the root of AR-ending verbs and the suffix IDO to the root of ER/IR
ending verbs
- In English, HABER is equivalent to has/have
- It is used to indicate an action starting in the past and is continuing to the present

- This tense is formed by combining HABER in the preterito imperfect and the past participle of
the main verb
- It is used to express an action done and finished in the past before another past action
