 Holidays that have made a difference...
Unas vacaciones que han marcado la diferencia...

Did you know that there are more than 5,000 endangered animal species in
the world today and at least one species dies out every year?
¿Sabías que hoy en día hay más de 5000 especies de animales en peligro de
extinción en el mundo y al menos una especie muere cada año?

Well, these three people decided to do something about it! They've all
recently been on a working holiday to help an endangered sspecies.
Bueno, ¡estas tres personas decidieron hacer algo al respecto! Todos han
estado recientemente en unas vacaciones de trabajo para ayudar a una
especie en peligro de extinción.

They told us all about their experiences...

Hayley has just spent three
months on a floating house boat in
the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.

Hayley acaba de pasar tres meses

"I was part of an observation 04
team doing research, and it
was amazing!" she says.

"Yo era parte de un equipo de

observación que investigaba, ¡y fue

"Every year, we lose about 10%

of these clever creatures.

 They swim in polluted waters and
05 sometimes get caught in
fishermen's nets.

There are more than 300 dolphins

here and we had to record new
births and monitor the babies.

06 In the evenings, we sat on the
porch and listened to the sounds
of the jungle.
Por las noches, nos sentábamos en

Then, we went to sleep in

hammocks! It was so relaxing!“

Cross River Gorilla

Gorila de Rio cruzado
 Ryan has Just spent 6 months in a
08 tent tracking these gorillas in the
rainforests of Cameroon after he
saw a documentary about them.

Ryan acaba de pasar 6 meses en

una tienda de campaña rastreando
a estos gorilas en las selvas
tropicales de Camerún después de
ver un documental sobre ellos.
 He says, "I was very shocked
when I heard there are only 300

of these gorillas left because of
hunting and deforestation that
has destroyed their habitat.
Él dice: "Me sorprendió mucho
cuando escuché que solo quedan
300 de estos gorilas debido a la

destruido su hábitat.

Everyday, we walked for miles

up steep slopes in the rainforest.

 Our guide was a poacher in the
past who hunted the gorillas for

their meat! I was so excited when
we saw our first gorilla.

We recorded lots of information

about its location and activities.

suggested alternatives to
cutting down forests for

This was the most interesting and
