El cuerpo, mi cuerpo, ¿es solo mio, o en realidad lo comparto con quien lo
mira, con quien lo toca, con quién lo lee? La precepción del cuerpo, ¿es
natural o es cultural? Nos expresamos por nuestro cuerpo pero también lo
producimos: lo vestimos, lo embellecemos y lo tatuamos. El tatuaje
convierte al cuerpo en el lienzo donde se escriben historias, se expresan
fidelidades, se guardan las memorias y se celebran a los muertos. El tatuaje
es una de las muchas formas de expresión voluntaria del deseo de ser
visualizados por el otro y por nosotros mismos como presencia individual,
es “… un punto de llegada y salida para las fuerzas que conforman la vida”
(Turner, 1989).
El arte del tatuaje va más allá de lo gráfico y de lo anatómico, forma parte

también narra una historia junto con ellos y de igual manera funciona si ese
diseño parte de un grupo de tatuajes que traen diferentes personas, como en
el caso de los que se hacen por amistad, amor, pertenencia a fraternidades,
etc.
Las motivaciones para tatuarse varían, y van desde aquellas relacionadas
solamente con la estética y cuya función es eminentemente ornamental,
hasta las que tienen que ver con un luto, o la remembranza de un ser querido
como nos expresó Massimiliano Chierichetti, hasta emblemas, expresiones
nacionalistas, creencias divinas y muchas otras ideas humanas. Aarón
Murguía, “Tesch”, diseñador gráfico y tatuador profesional potosino dice
que cada diseño se constituye en algo trascendental para quien lo porta pues
en él guarda parte de su historia, de su estado de ánimo o algún recuerdo
imborrable.
El tatuaje ha dejado de ser una práctica artesanal y para convertirse en una
profesión, es un trabajo en el que se cobra por el diseño y la elaboración; se
cotiza según la dificultad, los colores y el tiempo que se lleve su grabado.
El oficio del tatuador es muy personal dice Tesch, pues no se ofrece como
un área profesional en la carrera de diseño, sino es una aptitud individual.
Gracias a lo imborrable del tatuaje, los novatos hacen sus impresiones en
