Good morning, today I am going to talk about Easter Island located in Chile

Easter Island, a territory of Chile, is a remote volcanic island in Polynesia. Its native name is Rapa
Nui. It is famous for its archaeological sites, including about 900 monumental statues called
"moais", created by the inhabitants between the 13th and 16th centuries. Moai are carved human
figures with oversized heads, often resting on huge stone pedestals called ahus. Ahu Tongariki has
the largest group of upright moai.

Interesting fact

The Moais of Easter Island have bodies buried under their heads. Under tons of earth, the heads
hid complete bodies with feet and hands. The cleaning work on the sculptures has revealed that
they are covered with numerous inscriptions.

And to clarify, it was not man who covered them with earth, but the action of time and the
elements.

Isla de Pascua, un territorio de Chile, es una remota isla volcánica en la Polinesia. Su nombre
nativo es Rapa Nui. Es famosa por sus sitios arqueológicos, incluidas cerca de 900 estatuas
monumentales llamadas "moáis", creadas por los habitantes entre los siglos XIII y XVI. Los moáis
son figuras humanas talladas con cabezas demasiado grandes, a menudo, apoyados sobre

Dato Interesante

Los Moais de la Isla de Pascua tienen cuerpos enterrados bajo sus cabezas. Bajo
toneladas de tierra, las cabezas, ocultaban cuerpos completos con pies y manos. Los
trabajos de limpieza de las esculturas han revelado que están cubiertas de numerosas
inscripciones.
