Objetivo: En esta e-class aprenderás a describir ciudades usando superlativos.

En 5A vimos como comparar 2 elementos. Sin embargo, cuando queremos decir que alguien/algo
posee una característica en mayor grado que todo el resto del grupo, no usamos comparativos
sino superlativos.

La estructura en oraciones superlativas es la siguiente:

SUJETO + TO BE + SUPERLATIVO + COMPLEMENTO

Ej.: Costanera center is the tallest building in Chile.

(Costanera center es el edificio más alto en Chile.)
Santiago is the most polluted city I’ve ever been to.
(Santiago es la ciudad más contaminada en la que he estado.)

Para formar los superlativos seguimos las siguientes reglas:

a) Adjetivos de 1 sílaba agregan the ___-est (tall  the tallest)
b) Adjetivos terminados en –y cambian esta por i y agregan the ___-est (happy  the
happiest)
c) Adjetivos de más de 1 sílaba anteponen the most (polluted  the most polluted)
d) Adjetivos irregulares cambian completamente (good  the best, bad  the worst, far 
the farthest/the furthest).

En lo que se refiere al complemento de las oraciones, éste se forma usualmente de 2 maneras:

1. Indicando la categoría a la que pertenece el sujeto y el grupo en el que se inserta la
categoría:
Ej.: The Amazon is the longest river in South America.
Valdivia is the most beautiful city in Chile.
2. Usando el presente perfecto y ever:
The Amazon is the longest river I’ve ever seen.
Valdivia is the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited.
