Before the installation, it is recommended to clean the
slab carefully and to visually inspect it to make sure it
does not show:

• bubbles, cracks and splits;

• bends, deformations;
• de-shading;
• any other fault that may be
considered a defect.

The processing of natural raw materials, combined with the use of

leading-edge patented production techniques, makes it possible
to obtain high-tech materials characterized by typical full-body
effects, a feature that has always been the exclusive hallmark
of quarried marble and stone. Chromatic variations, veining
and speckling are thus prized characteristics of SapienStone
materials. Claims for already installed slab shall not be accepted,
even if the defects were already evident immediately after the
delivery.

DESCRIPTION
For the correct handling of the pallets, a fork lift truck must be
used (which can load up to 3500 kilos), at least 1.60 m long, with
the forks positioned in the SapienStone width position. Under
normal conditions, the forks are positioned in the middle of the
long side of the pallet, as they must grip the whole depth of the
pallet. To allow the extraction of the slabs easily and safely, it is
recommended to position the pallets in a suitable area where the
lift truck can be moved around all sides of the pallet. For manual
handling and subsequent laying of the SapienStone slabs, in
order to guarantee the operators’ safety and the integrity of the
slabs, it is strongly recommended to use a frame with suction
cups, available upon request, particularly suitable for large
dimension “SapienStone” formats.
INSTRUMENTS REQUIRED
The instruments for lifting and handling the slabs can be
chosen according to the size of the slab and the activities to be
performed on the site, in particular:
• Fork lift truck with forks 1.6 M long;
• Frame with suction cups for handling large format slabs;
PROCESSING STAGES
1. Remove the cover from the cage/rack;
2. Position the frame with suction cups on the slab and make
sure that the cups adhere to it perfectly;
3. For horizontal handling (on the surface), put the slab into a
vertical position and use the wheels applied to the handling
frame.
DESCRIPCIÓN
Para desplazar los palés correctamente es necesario utilizar una
carretilla elevadora de horquillas con una longitud mínima de 2,5
m colocando estas últimas en la posición de máxima anchura. En
condiciones normales, las horquillas se colocan en el centro del
lado largo del palé, dado que deben agarrar toda
la profundidad del palé. Para permitir la extracción de las placas
con facilidad y seguridad, se aconseja colocar los palés en un
área adecuada en la que sea posible moverse con la carretilla

Para el desplazamiento manual y la colocación de las placas
SapienStone, con el fin de garantizar la seguridad de los
operadores y la integridad de las placas, se aconseja vivamente

CUTTING THE SLAB
It is important to decrease the cutting speed by 50% at the beginning and at the end of the cutting operation on a slab with thickness
12 and 20 mm. For black and white materials, reduce the amount that comes out by 20%.

DISC CUTTING
When disc cutting, it is necessary:
1. Use the disks for porcelain stoneware strictly;
2. To check that the cutting surface is perfectly flat and without residues;
3. To check that the support is sufficiently resistant to prevent any possible breakage;
4. To use the max. water jet possible for cooling the slab being cut and to make sure that the jet flows directly on the cutting area.

Procedure for disc cutting 12 and 20mm thick tiles:

- Trim the perimeter of the tile approx. 3cm on all sides.
- Cut the perimeter of the countertop, taking care to protect corners. Where necessary, make cuts in two passes or make a pilot hole in
the final section.
- Using a water jet cutter, make 4 No. 60/70mm diameter holes in the 4 corners of the required basin, 5mm away from the edge of the basin.

CÓMO EFECTUAR EL CORTE DE LA PLACA

- Realizar recorte perimetral de aprox. 3cm por lado.
- Realizar los cortes del perímetro de la encimera protegiendo las esquinas y, donde es necesario, hacer corte en dos pasadas o un

APPROACHING THE PIECES
While approaching the slabs we recommend to follow the procedure below to guarantee the best possible positioning:

POSITIONING THE PIECES WITHOUT JOINT

Please handle the slabs carefully, with special caution to edges and keeping to the instructions below for their positioning:
1. check that each edge is minimally chamfered to make the slab more solid;
2. make sure that the substrate is levelled and perfectly flat, otherwise adjust or adapt using levelling wedges;
3. check that the joint edges match perfectly and do not have different angles, which may cause breakage.

Levelling wedges must be inserted while approaching two adjacent slabs to avoid any impact.
The wedges can be removed only when silicone is applied and during possible later final adjustments that require a min. movement.

COLOCACIÓN DE LAS PIEZAS SIN JUNTA

Se ruega manejar las placas con cuidado prestando una atención especial a los cantos y siguiendo estas instrucciones durante la
colocación:
1. compruebe que cada canto tenga un biselado mínimo del borde que asegure la solidez de la placa;
2. asegúrese de que el soporte esté nivelado y perfectamente plano; de lo contrario, ajuste o adapte con la ayuda de cuñas de
nivelación;
3. compruebe que los bordes unidos coinciden perfectamente y que no tengan ángulos diferentes que puedan causar roturas.

Durante el acercamiento de dos placas adyacentes, para prevenir el impacto, es necesario interponer algunas cuñas de nivelación.
Las cuñas se pueden quitar solo durante la aplicación de la silicona y durante posibles ajustes finales posteriores que requieran un
desplazamiento mínimo.
POSITIONING THE REINFORCEMENTS
It is recommended to build reinforcements to be placed on the slab rear side at a reciprocal distance of 600 mm.
All joints must be reinforced in the lower part.
Gaps, not supported by any surface, must be reinforced with bars of a sufficiently resistant material, such as: granite, aluminum, high
density polyurethane foam.

COLOCACIÓN DE LOS REFUERZOS

Se recomienda construir algunos refuerzos para colocarlos en la parte trasera de la placa separados unos 600 mm.
Todas las uniones deben reforzarse en la parte inferior.
Las áreas vacías, que no apoyan sobre ninguna superficie, deben reforzarse con barras de material lo suficientemente resistente como,
por ejemplo, aluminio o refuerzo con armazón de fibra de vidrio.

If the taps are to be installed directly in the top, it is advisable

to add a reinforcing pad under the top in the point where
the hole has been drilled. Be careful as the pad must be
positioned so as to enable free movements of the top.

Cuando sea preciso instalar grifos directamente en la

encimera, se recomienda añadir un cojinete de refuerzo en
la parte inferior de la encimera, en el punto donde se ha
realizado el orificio. Sin embargo, hay que tener cuidado de
que el cojinete esté colocado de tal manera que no impida los
movimientos de la encimera.

INSTALLING THE KITCHEN TOP
We always recommend to position an insulating panel over the dishwasher or under the worktop.

All tops and islands made with 12-mm slabs can be installed with a projection that must be max. 50 mm. We also recommend to make
a 3-4 mm radius around the slab edges.

It is recommended to position a supporting strip under the points where the 12 mm slabs are matched in 50 mm wide laminar
structures and to make sure that the strip has the same thickness.
