THE FREQUENCY ADVERBS IN THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE

actividad: I always have breakfast at 8 o'clock (Yo siempre desayuno a las 8 en punto).

✔ Generally ✔ Twice ✔ Frequently

✔ Occasionally ✔ Three times ✔ Often
✔ Every(day, ✔ Always ✔ Rarely
week,month…) ✔ Usually ✔ Hardly ever
✔ Once (a day, a week, a ✔ Never ✔ Seldom
year) ✔ Sometimes

adverbio empleados. Tenga en cuenta las siguientes normas:

1. Los adverbios de frecuencia se ubican luego del verbo to be en oraciones afirmativas y negativas:

- I am always at home / I am not always at home

- She is never late / She isn't often early

2. Los adverbios de frecuencia se ubican luego del sujeto en oraciones interrogativas con el verbo to be:

- Are you always at home?

- Is she often late?
- Where are you frequently at 10 pm?

verbos diferentes al to be:
- I always work at 7
- She never wakes up at 6
- They sometimes drink coffee

- I don't always drink coffee in the morning.

- She doesn't usually stay in the hotel.
- They don´t frequently call me at night.

5. Los adverbios de frecuencia always, usually, often, sometimes, frequently, never, hardly ever, rarely
en oraciones interrogativas, con verbos diferentes al to be , se ubican luego del sujeto:
- Do you always drink coffee in the morning?
- Does she usually stay in the hotel?
- Do they frequently call you at night?

- Generally, I am at home after 8 pm.
- Occasionally, I teach English to children
- Sometimes, I don't arrive at home at 7.

- I am at home after 8 pm every day.
- I teach English to children twice a week.
- I don´t go abroad every year.

pregunta How often (¿con qué frecuencia?) E.g. how often do you eat out? I never eat out.

Let’s practice

Reading comprehension

Read about Emma’s routine and highlight the frequency adverbs.

Hi! My name is Emma. I’m ten years old and I’m English. I live with my family in Brighton in the south of
England. My day usually starts quite early. I always get up at 7.30 on weekdays, but on the weekends I sleep
an hour and a half longer. When I get up, I go to the bathroom first. I wash my face to wake me up, brush my
teeth and then I have a shower. After that I comb my hair and get dressed. I usually wear casual clothes,
mainly jeans, shorts, T-shirts and trainers. I always have breakfast with my mum and my little brother, Tommy.
My dad never has breakfast with us because he starts work early on weekdays. I usually have a bowl of
cornflakes with hot milk and toast with marmalade. Before I go to school, I have to walk our dog, Leo.

I usually walk to school because I don’t live very far. Classes start at 8.30. I like Maths best but I’m also good at
Science and English. I have two breaks, at 11 and at 1 o’clock. I eat a sandwich and drink orange juice. I also
play with my classmates in the playground. School finishes at 3.30 and my dad picks me up and we come back
home by car. Then we have lunch together.

After lunch I play with my brother for a while and then I do my homework and study. I have basketball practice
twice a week. I love doing sports. Before dinner I sometimes meet my friends or watch a TV quiz. I seldom play
computer game; I simply find them boring. We have dinner at 7.30 and I often set the table. After dinner I
read a book or surf the Internet for a while.

At 9.30 I go to the bathroom to have a shower, brush my teeth and put on my nightdress. Before I go to sleep,
I listen to music on my MP3 player because it makes me feel relaxed.

earth. Write also about your likes and dislikes.

● Write a paragraph of between 50 and 60 words

During the week I always count eight hours of sleep a day. Frequently when I wake up I take wet towels and
clean my whole body, I don't like to bathe in this way but I have gotten used to it since water is completely
valuable here so I try not to use it. I usually take some envelope of processed food and make it my breakfast.
After this i always starts my working day, where I do scientific studies. Sometimes I have to get out of the ship
and perform maintenance.

B. ORAL PRODUCTION. Send an audio file with the text that you wrote. Upload it to Moodle or send it by
