Bueno, como ustedes saben, yo soy de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Yo vengo de una familia
trabajadora y vivía en el centro de la ciudad. Actor: Hello and thank you for inviting me, I
am happy to share a little more about myself with you. Well, as you know I am from Buenos Aires,
Argentina. I come from a working family and used to live in the center of the city.

Repórter: Tiene que ser divertido crecer en una ciudad tan cultural como Buenos Aires. ¿Qué
hacen tus padres? Reporter: It must be fun growing up in a city as cultural as Buenos Aires,
what do your parents do?

Actor: Mis padres siempre trabajaron. Mi papá es doctor, igual que mi abuelo y mis tíos. Todos
son médicos, aunque mi papá es el único cirujano. Mi mamá es ingeniera en sistemas y trabaja
en una empresa de computadoras. Actor: My parents always worked. My dad is a doctor, just
like my grandpa and my uncles. They are all doctors, although my father is the only surgeon. My
mom is a system's engineer and works in a computer company.

Repórter: Tu familia suena muy trabajadora, ¿eres el único actor en tu familia? Reporter: Your
family sounds very hardworking. Are you the only actor in your family?

Actor: Sí, mis padres por poco se mueren cuando les dije que quería estudiar actuación. Mis
hermanos mayores tienen profesiones más tradicionales, mi hermano es abogado y mi hermana,
arquitecta, mi hermano menor es estudiante de medicina. Mi abuela todavía me pregunta cuándo
voy a estudiar. Actor: Yes, my parents almost died when I told them I wanted to study acting. My
older brothers have more traditional professions, my brother is a lawyer and my sister an
architect, my younger brother is a medicine student. My grandmother still asks me when I'm
going to study.

Reporter: ¿No dijiste que estudiaste actuación? Reporter: Didn't you say you studied acting?

Actor: Sí, y me gradué, pero para mis abuelos eso no cuenta como una educación. No importa
que gane más que el resto de mi familia o mi fama, siempre seré el único nieto que no tiene una
profesión. Actor: Yes, and I graduated, but for my grandparents that does not count as an
education. It does not matter that I earn more than the rest of my family or that I'm famous, I will
always be the only grandchild who does not have a profession.

is a friend of my wife's who ended a relationship a couple of months ago, she is very pretty, she is

complete my degree in Teaching English as a Second Language in a Latin American University,

para un puesto en Asia como mi hermano mayor. Student: I understand, but I plan to spend only
two years here in Chile and then I want to apply to a position in Asia like my older brother.

Decano de admisiones: Muchos de nuestros estudiantes terminan recibiendo excelentes ofertas

de trabajo en Asia, Europa y África, por eso siempre buscamos estudiantes internacionales.

inviting me, I am happy to share a little more about myself with you. Well I am from Santiago and I
come from a working family so when I was little, I always thought I was going to be a constructor
like my father and most of my uncles.

Reportero: ¿Cantabas cuando eras pequeño en la escuela o comenzaste más tarde en la vida?
Reporter: Did you sing when you were little at school or did you start later on in life?

Actor: Mis padres siempre trabajaron para que tuviéramos mejores oportunidades, por lo que
todos fuimos a la escuela privada y la universidad. Mi madre era muy estricta con nosotros y tenía
profesiones, así que fui a la escuela para ser psicólogo y ahí es donde comencé a cantar con una
banda y descubrí mi pasión. Actor: My parents always worked for us to have better opportunities,
so we all went to private schools and college. My mom was very strict about us having
professions, so I went to school to be a psychologist, and there is where I started singing with a
band and discovered my passion.

Reportero: Tu familia suena muy trabajadora. ¿Eres el único cantante en tu familia? Reporter:
Your family sounds very hardworking. Are you the only singer in your family?

Actor: Sí, mis padres casi se mueren cuando les dije que quería cambiar mi especialidad a la
música. Mis hermanos mayores tienen profesiones más tradicionales, mi hermano es médico y mi
hermana, ingeniera; mi hermano menor está estudiando para ser abogado. Mi abuela todavía me
pregunta cuándo voy a estudiar. Actor: Yes, my parents almost died when I told them I wanted
to change my major to music. My older brothers have more traditional professions, my brother is
a doctor and my sister an engineer, my younger brother is studying to be a lawyer. My
grandmother still asks me when I'm going to study.

Reportero: ¿No dijiste que estudiaste música en la universidad? Reporter: Didn't you say you
studied music at college?

Actor: Sí, y me gradué, pero para mis abuelos eso no cuenta como educación. No importa que
gane más que el resto de mi familia o que sea famoso, siempre seré el único nieto que no tiene
una profesión. Actor: Yes, and I graduated, but for my grandparents that does not count as an
education. It does not matter that I earn more than the rest of my family or that I'm famous, I will
always be the only grandchild who does not have a profession.

Reportero: (risas) Los abuelos siempre tienen opiniones fuertes, al menos en Chile. Ahora,
queremos escuchar acerca de su nuevo álbum. Reporter: (laughs) Grandparents always have
strong opinions, at least in Chile. Now, we want to hear about your new album.

Turista: Buenas tardes. ¿Cuánto cuestan los guantes de lana verde? Tourist: Good afternoon.
How much do the green wool gloves cost?

Vendedor: Cuestan seis soles el par y tenemos de varios colores. Seller: They cost 6 soles a pair
and we have several colors.

Turista: Quiero llevarme media docena. Tourist: I want to take half a dozen.

Vendedor: Si compra media docena se los dejo a cuatro soles con veinticinco centavos cada par.
Seller: If you buy half a dozen, I'll leave them at four soles with twenty- ve cents each pair.

Turista: ¿Y tiene bufandas que sean del mismo color y material? Tourist: And do you have
scarves that are the same color and material?

Vendedor: Sí, todos los guantes tienen bufanda y gorro que hacen juego, ¿quiere verlos?

Juan: Yo almuerzo aquí siempre, tienen opciones a la carta, pero todos los días tienen un especial
de almuerzo donde escoges entre los platos del día un almuerzo completo. Es barato y muy rico.
Juan: I always have lunch here, they have a la carte options, but every day they have a lunch
