RESUMEN
The wor呸 'fifesty!e'. r呸fers to that set of attitudes, behavioural patterns/orientations, habits and/or possessions that
characte呸1zes an md1v1dual, group or culture. This means that lifestyles may differ from home to home, community to
con:imurnty, or fro呸 country to country. Although people may be different on one or more levels, we must all acknowledge
the 1n:iportance of c1v_i1 coexistence and peace in a culturally diverse world. In orderto do so, we mustfirst identify and accept
our diñerences, In th1s sectíon, we'll look at sorne prominent lifestyles in a few countries in different parts of the world.
Family Relationships: The traditional nuclear household is
· the most common family structure in the United States of
America - a mother and a father living together, under one
roof, with an average of 1 - 3 children. Both parents are
i usually employed and in such cases, children spend the
; day at school or daycare facilities when their parents are at
work. There are many single parent and extended families in
· the United States. In most families, once a child beco mes a
teenager and graduates from high school, he/she leaves the
home to lead an independent lifestyle or to pursue higher
education. Special occasions like weddings, reunions,
birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, lndependence Day (4th
of July) are usually celebrated as a joint family unit.
Food/Diet: American cuisine is very diverse. This is primarily
because the culture is heavily influenced by the backgrounds
and traditions of a large number of immigrants who bring
· different types of dishes to the country. Sorne typical U.S.
dishes are grilled steak, roast beef, fried chicken, patato
salad, hot dogs, hot wings, meat loaf, hamburgers, stuffed
turkey, corn on the cob, and many others. Because of its
size, it is much easier to distinguish by region. For example,
in Southern states, people prepare a lot of farm-style dishes.

offended if you wear fur.
Sports: American football, baseball and basketball are
probably the most popular sporting events in the U.S. Golf
and hockey are also popular. The Super Bowl is the annual
championship game of the National Football Federation
(NFL). lt is regarded as the biggest sporting event of the
US calendar; it is the most-watched program on TV in the
country and the second most-watched program worldwide.

Michael Jordan (Basketball), Muhammad Ali (Boxíng),
