Identify and analyse the problem: it means finding the problem and recognizing that a decision should
be taken to reach the solution of this. The problem may be current, or potential, because it is estimated to
exist in the future.
Identify the criteria of decision and to ponder them: it refers to those aspects that are relevant at the
moment to make the decision, that is to say those guidelines of which depends the decision that is taken.
Define the priority to attend the problem: it is based on the impact and urgency that it has to attend
and solve the problem.
Generate the solution alternatives: It consists of developing different possible solutions to the
problem. The more alternatives you have will be much more likely to find one that is satisfactory.
Evaluate the alternatives: It is a detailed study of each of the possible solutions that were generated for
the problem, it means to look at its advantages and disadvantages, individually with respect to the
criteria of decision, and one with respect to the other, assigning a weighted value.
Choosing the best alternative: In this step you choose the alternative that the evaluation will get better
results for the problem.
Implementation of the decision: it means to start the decision taken in order to evaluate whether or not
the decision was successful. Implementation is likely to lead to new decisions.
Evaluation of the results: After starting the decision it is necessary to evaluate whether or not the
problem was solved, that is, whether the decision is having the expected result or not. If the result is not
expected you should look if it is because you should give yourself a little more time to get the results or
if the decision was definitely not right, in this case you must start the process again to find a new
decision.
IMPORTANCE OF DECISION-MAKING
The time to make a decision is important because through this you can study a problem or situation that
is valued and considered deeply to choose the best way to follow according to different alternatives and
operations.
In companies, it is of vital importance because it contributes to maintain the harmony and coherence of
the Group, and thus its efficiency, since it can be considered a problem and to reach a valid conclusion because
all the alternatives have been examined and that the choice has been the correct one.
