Summary:
Light allows us to see, to know where we are and that surrounds us, it also makes us feel, see and
transform a space; light in architecture is a fundamental element, where each architect decides what
meaning to give it, what sensations it intends to cause by means of it and how it intends to do so,
whether by means of natural or artificial light, thinking of highlighting textures, shapes, colors, but
also looking for a balance light-architecture where both fulfil a function, But don’t let one get the
other.
In Gothic architecture, light continues to play the role of transmitting sensations and creating
atmospheres, but already, in a specific way; Gothic architecture is an imposing architecture, both
inside and outside, but it has to tell the truth if we refer to the inside of it, for sensations is much
more imposing inside, because they handle a lot of qualities like its large vaults, its ostentatious
details and above all the handling of light by means of different devices divided into windows and
windows, the latter being the one that generates the greatest atmospheric impact.
