LA PSICOTERAPIA COMO
TRATAMIENTO BIOLOGICO
The brain is constantly adapting, updating and modifing itself. Virtually, all the
upper mental functions are modified by the experiencies. The psychotherapy,
taken as an experience, will have also this same ability. To the light of the
current knowledges about the brain function, its proposed the possible
biologic basis of the psychotherapeutic process.

INTRODUCCION
«El más apasionado defensor de la exclusiva teoría psicogénica de las
enfermedades mentales no puede negar que, cuando habla a sus enfermos,
o les induce a que recuerden, o les presenta una vivencia apropiada, está
modificando en mayor o menor proporción la bioquímica de determinados
centros encefálicos. Está modificando la liberación de transmisores y la
actividad de receptores neurológicos. Todavía más, que la intensidad de esta
modificación bioquímica es proporcional al contenido afectivo que encierra la
vivencia o el recuerdo.» Esto se decía hace cerca de veinte años(1), ¿Qué
podemos decir en la actualidad?.
El cerebro está construido, como dice Freedman, para comportarse y posee
además espacios en blanco para ser ocupados. A través de cambios en su
