2. JUSTIFICACIÓN
El escenario de la globalización y la apertura económica, la comunicación intercultural y el alto ritmo del progreso tecnológico y científico, exigen
a la población académica en general el desarrollo de competencias comunicativas en el idioma inglés, que es considerado actualmente “lingua
franca” o lenguaje universal y por medio del cual se realizan la mayoría de intercambios, a nivel académico, tecnológico, científico, económico y
político. De esta manera, el ITM se suma a las exigencias del mundo actual llevando a sus tecnólogos y profesionales al desarrollo de
competencias comunicativas en el idioma inglés como lengua extranjera a través de los cursos ofrecidos a la comunidad académica.

Para cumplir con estas exigencias del mundo actual, la asignatura Inglés, en el ITM, se basa en la adquisición de competencias comunicativas a
través de un aprendizaje basado en tareas que permite a los estudiantes acostumbrarse al uso de este idioma como una herramienta que les
facilita el acceso al conocimiento; a una comunicación efectiva; y al manejo de diferentes situaciones contextuales, ya sean académicas, sociales,
laborales o culturales.

3. COMPETENCIA

Comprende y produce textos y conversaciones referentes a información personal y familiar, rutinas, gustos y lugares cotidianos usando
expresiones y frases básicas del idioma para comunicar efectivamente sus ideas y opiniones.
