laborar.
Latin American countries began the era of social systems between the years 1930 and 1940 with
the promise of protection to all workers against various risks. With the initial figure of
contributory social insurance where employers and workers pay a percentage proportional to
their salary to cover their social security.
It is in this way that the word "Todos" has really become a real promise because the reality is
different since less workers are part of a social system to not go so far we look at the coverage of
workers in Colombia it is only 37%.
1-Only workers employed by large companies and public employees are part of social security.
This is part of the reality since these are the obliged in a categorical way to ensure the safety of
their workers as it is there where the workers of the unions.
The unions are those who represent the workers before the government entities to bring to the
notice some run over to the rights of the worker, is here one of the problems that being the
members of these unions part of these companies can know the problem but really do not touch
them or better not part of your daily life.
This is how I dare to propose that independent workers or better informally have a voice and vote
in the unions so that they have the way to defend their rights.
2-Informal workers are many who do not have social coverage because they are mostly rural
companies where it is difficult to enforce social security laws.
This point of failure of the system shows that there are more failures that are based on social
security since the informal workers in our country are the most run down because the work of
these informal jobs are mostly in mines, agriculture and others where it is required to have some
parameters of security and that do not have.
I dare say that the control of these informal jobs can be had as a true socio-cultural study where
they have knowledge about the income of Colombian households by regions, so as to know how
to begin to control such irregularities that also bring with them many Social problems.
3-Formal workers have high average wages while the informal worker often does not really know
how much they earn per month, for them their priority is to take food home and that their family
has to eat.
This is one of the shortcomings that the independent workers have, since for them what is
important is to meet their basic needs at the moment is how we do not think about a future,
giving way to the moment of facing a crisis as an illness, death of the person head of household is
affected their economy and also they do not have to face such situations.
4-Formal workers have more level of schooling while informal workers have a low level of
schooling or many of them did not have the opportunity since at very early ages they begin to
work.
It is in this way that these failures have been increasing in our social system, the government tries
to cushion this failure giving rise to systems where the government is the one that meets this
need, this has made the system falter because there are many more informal workers.
In this way I propose that a study be carried out where real numbers of informal workers are
measured and more social security payment facilities are provided to self-employed workers as
well as microenterprises that are also the majority.
