Leonardo Zeevaert Wiechers fue un ingeniero del estado de Veracruz, México. El Dr.

Zeevaert, nació el 27 de
noviembre de 1914, y falleció el 16 de febrero de 2010 a los 95 años.

Ingresó en 1932 a la entonces Escuela Nacional de Ingenieros de la Universidad Nacional de México, en donde obtuvo el
título de Ingeniero Civil en 1939.

Ingreso en 1939 al Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts, para realizar estudios de posgrado en Ingeniería Civil.

Fue profesor de 1941 a 1974, en clases de mecánica de suelos e ingeniería de cimentaciones en la Facultad de
Ingeniería de la UNAM.

El Instituto Politécnico Nacional honró al Dr. Zeevaert, al instituir en 1993 la "Conferencia Leonardo Zeevaert", en la
Semana de la Geotecnia.

Entre sus proyectos, está la torre Latinoamericana, que se construyó en febrero de 1948 cuando el Dr. Zeevaert tenía 36
años de edad.

Dió la solución de hincar 361 pilotes especialmente diseñados, hasta una profundidad de 33 m para cimentar la torre.

Leonardo Zeevaert Wiechers was an engineer from the state of Veracruz, Mexico. He was born on November 27th
of 1914, and he died on February 16th of 2010 at the age of 95 years.
He started his career at the National School of Engineers of the National University of Mexico, he obtained the title
of Civil Engineer in 1939.
He did postgraduate studies in Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1939
He was professor in soil mechanics classes and foundation engineering at the Engineering Faculty of the UNAM.
The Instituto Politécnico Nacional honored to Dr. Zeevaert with the "Leonardo Zeevaert Conference" in the
Geotechnics Week in 1993.
One of the most important project he did was the Latin American tower, which was built in February 1948 when Dr.
Zeevaert was 36 years old.
It gave the solution with 361 piles to a depth of 33 m to cement the tower.
