The crew of the training tall ship Cuauhtémoc welcomes you on board, especially this year,
in which we will celebrate two very significant events. The Centenary of the promulgation of
the Political Constitution of México and the 35th anniversary of our ship, sailing the seas and
oceans around the world, proudly raising our national flag, time in which has traveled 705,012
nautical miles and forged to 34 generations of cadets from the Heroic Navy Military School.
El Crucero de Instrucción 2017 “Centenario de la Constitución”, diseñado para las y los Cadetes
del cuarto año de la carrera del Cuerpo General de la Heroica Escuela Naval Militar, será el
cuarto viaje de circunnavegación de este majestuoso buque, tendrá una duración de nueve
meses y medio, tiempo en el que se visitarán 15 puertos de 12 países.
The 2017 Instruction Cruise “Centenary of the Constitution” designed for the fourth year
cadets of the Heroic Naval Military School will be the fourth circumnavigation trip of this
majestic ship. She will travel for nine months and a half and during this time she will visit 15
ports from 12 countries.

The Aztec Empire
El imperio Azteca floreció entre los siglos XIV y XV d.C. alcanzando un alto grado
de desarrollo tecnológico y cultural; la triple alianza con Texcoco y Tlacopan le
permitió expandir su dominio sobre los pueblos de Mesoamérica, basando su
economía en la agricultura y en el pago de tributo.
The Aztec Empire thrived between the XIV and XV A.C. centuries, reaching a
high level of technological and cultural development; the triple Alliance with
Texcoco and Tlacopan allowed it to extend its control over the Mesoamerica
villages, basing its economy in agriculture and fee payment.
The Aztec civilization was in maximum splendour when it was threaten by the
Spaniard expedition under the command of Hernan Cortes. Its fall was due to
the alliance with the sworn enemies of the Mexicas –the Tlaxcaltecans- as well
as the pandemic outbreak of smallpox, marking the beginning of the Colonial
era of New Spain.

Cuauhtémoc -Águila que desciende sobre su presa- fue el nombre del último Emperador Azteca.
Cuauhtemoc -Eagle descending over its prey- was the name of the last Aztec Emperor.
De estirpe guerrera, participó activamente en la emboscada de la noche triste como Tlacatlecutli -jefe
de armas- expulsando a Hernán Cortés y sus expedicionarios de Tenochtitlán después de la matanza del
Templo Mayor.
From a warrior lineage, he actively participated in the Sad Night ambush as Tlacatlecutli –Weapons
Lord- expelling Hernan Cortes and his men from Tenochtitlan after the Mayor Temple slaughter.
Tras la muerte de Cuitláhuac, fue elegido Huey Tlatoani en 1521, encargándose de reorganizar y
fortificar Tenochtitlán, comandando tenazmente la defensa de la plaza ante el asedio de los invasores.
Su indomable espíritu de valor y sacrificio es reconocido hoy en día como un ícono de la mexicanidad.
After Cuitlahuac´s death, he was chosen as Huey Tlatoani in 1521, being in charge of
reorganizing and fortifying Tenochtitlan, commanding tenaciously the defense of the city

E n 2017 se llevará a cabo la celebración
del Centenario de la Constitución
Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, la
cual tiene su origen en el momento en que el
Jefe del Ejército Constitucionalista y encargado
del Poder Ejecutivo de la Nación, Venustiano
Carranza, convocó a un Congreso Constituyente,
con el objetivo de realizar las reformas necesarias
a la Constitución de 1857.
