USOS DE CAN / CAN’T

 Para expresar lo que se puede o no se puede hacer:

Helen can play tennis on Tuesday morning.
(Helen puede jugar a tenis el martes por la mañana.)
You can buy things with money.
(Puedes comprar cosas con dinero.)
She can’t go to the cinema on Saturday evening.
(No puede ir al cine el sábado por la tarde.)
You can’t drink with a pen.
(No puedes beber con un bolígrafo.)

 Para expresar lo que se sabe o no se sabe hacer:

I can speak three foreign languages.
(Sé hablar tres idiomas extranjeros.)
I can drive a car but I can’t ride a motorbike.
(Sé conducir un coche pero no una moto.)

 Para pedir permiso, concederlo o negarlo:

Can I smoke a cigarette? Yes, you can.
(¿Puedo fumar un cigarro? Sí.)
Can I leave? No, you can’t.
(¿Puedo salir? No.)

 Para pedir que alguien haga algo:

Can you open the door?
(¿Puedes abrir la puerta?)
Can you bring me a cup of coffee?
(¿Puedes traerme una taza de café?)

 Con los verbos hear and see:

Can you hear me?
(¿Puedes oírme?)
Can you see them?
(¿Puedes verlos?)
