Well here we are again. Ta–da! To be honest all this learning languages is a hassle, isn't it?

Bueno, aquí estamos de nuevo. ¡Tachán! Para ser honesto todo esto de aprender idiomas es una molestia, ¿no?

What's it to be? Spanish or English or Chinese or German? French, Czech, Portuguese, Hebrew, Swahili, etc,
etc, etc… And just think how easy it would be if we all spoke the same language.

¿Qué va a ser? Español o inglés o chino o alemán? Francés, checo, portugués, hebreo, swahili, etc, etc, etc... Y
solo piensa qué fácil sería si todos habláramos el mismo idioma.

It's said, by those that believe in the Bible, that all these different languages originated with the tower of Babel.

Dicen los que creen en la Biblia que todas las lenguas diferentes se originaron con la torre de Babel.

Once upon a time everyone in the whole world spoke the same language. It all started when the people that
lived in Babylonia wanted a tower that went all the way to heaven.

Érase una vez que todo el mundo en la tierra hablaba el mismo idioma. Todo empezó cuando la gente que vivía
en Babilonia quiso una torre que llegara hasta el cielo.

But ambition and pride took over and all they were thinking about was that they'd be famous in the entire world
for building the biggest and best tower ever.

La ambición y el orgullo les pudieron y en lo único que pensaron fue en que serían famosos en el mundo entero
por construir la mayor y mejor torre de la historia.

And God was very disappointed and angry with them so he mixed up their language so they couldn’t
understand each other and they couldn’t work together anymore.

Y Dios estuvo muy decepcionado y enfadado con ellos así que mezcló su idioma para no pudieran entenderse
unos con otros y no pudieran trabajar juntos jamás.

What do you make of that eh? I bet you didn't know that happened?

There is a language that was invented as an international auxiliary language so that everyone in the world
would be able to communicate easily. I'm talking about Esperanto.

Hay un idioma que se inventó como una lengua internacional auxiliar para que todas las personas en el mundo
pudieran comunicarse fácilmente. Estoy hablando del Esperanto.

It was created in 1876 by the Polish ophthalmologist, L.L.Zamenhof, who had spent a decade developing it.
And apparently according to the statistics it is the most widely spoken language in the world today!

Fue creado en el 1876 por el oftalmólogo polaco L. L. Zamenhof que había pasado una década desarrollándolo.
Y aparentemente de acuerdo con las estadísticas ¡es el lenguaje artificial más usado en el mundo hoy en día!
Just imagine if we could speak other invented languages like the languages spoken in Star Trek or Star Wars or
The Lord of the Rings!

Imagina si pudiéramos hablar otras lenguas inventadas como las que se hablan en Star Trek o Star Wars o El
Señor de los Anillos.

The first book written to describe Esperanto was called Lingo Internacia (International Language).It was first
published in Russian by Zamenhof who used the pen name “Doktoro Esperanto” (Doctor Esperanto). So the
new language was known as “Esperanto”.

El primer libro escrito para describir el Esperanto se llamaba Lingvo Interacia (Lengua Internacional); se
publicó por primera vez en ruso por Zamenhoff que usaba el nombre de pluma “Doktoro Esperanto” (Doctor
Esperanto). Así que el nuevo idioma se conoció como "Esperanto"

Many words were borrowed from other languages, but adapted to the grammar and phonology rules of the new
language itself. The vocabulary derives primarily from the Romance languages such as French and Italian, and
to a lesser extent from German, English, Polish, Russian, Ancient Greek and even Hebrew.

Muchas palabras fueron tomadas de otras lenguas pero adaptadas a las normas gramaticales y fonéticas del
nuevo idioma en sí. El vocabulario deriva principalmente de lenguas románicas como el francés y el italiano y,
en menor medida, del alemán y inglés, polaco y ruso, griego antiguo y hasta hebreo.

Recently words from Non-Indo-European Languages such as Japanese have been introduced so it can claim to
be a truly international language.

Recientemente, se han introducido palabras de idiomas no indoeuropeos como el japonés así que ahora se
puede decir que es un idioma internacional de verdad.

So that's all for now. It would be interesting to learn Esperanto but first let's get on with learning English, which
I'm sure more people will understand.

Esto es todo por ahora. Sería interesante aprender Esperanto pero primero vamos a seguir adelante con el
inglés, que estoy seguro que entenderá más gente.
