In this particular report, the thermal behavior of the substances was analyzed, one in the
liquid state (distilled water) and the other in the solid state (Zn), which were subjected to a
heating to determine the specific heat of a metal (Zn).
When we talk about Calorimetry we refer to the technique to measure the heat transferred
under conditions of constant pressure or under constant volume conditions. For this
experimental procedure an instrument was used that measures the heat released (-q) or
absorbed (+ q) during a chemical or physical process called a calorimeter. In this instrument
the system is the chemical or the physical process and the surroundings are the calorimeter
with its content.
The specific heat of a metal can be found with a water calorimeter, which can be easily done
by the Energy Conservation Principle, which says that energy can be destroyed at any time,
but can be transferred. from one part of one system or another.
In short, the purpose of this practice is the concepts of calorimetry, to determine the calorific
capacity of the calorimeter and the power established for the middle of the equations, the
value that is released or absorbed by the system.
