Nota tcnica
La presentacin muestra grficos y cuadros de los resultados de las Cuentas Nacionales

Trimestrales ecuatorianas No. 90, en niveles (miles de US dlares), tasas de variacin
trimestral (t/t-1, respecto al trimestre anterior), variaciones inter-anuales (t/t-4, respecto
al mismo trimestre del ao anterior), variaciones anuales (a/a-1), en valores corrientes y
constantes (precios de 2007).
Las cuentas incorporan tambin la actualizacin de los datos de base, provenientes de

diferentes fuentes estadsticas y de los modelos de correccin de variacin estacional,
CVE.
Las cifras de las Cuentas Nacionales Trimestrales tienen el carcter de provisionales y su

condicin de definitivas la adquieren cuando las Cuentas Nacionales Anuales as lo
determinen. Los datos anuales de las variables macroeconmicas se los han obtenido por
sumatoria de los niveles trimestrales.

RESULTADOS EN VALORES CORRIENTES Y CONSTANTES DE 2007

En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, el Producto Interno Bruto, PIB, en valores corrientes (a precios de
cada trimestre) alcanz los USD 25,201 millones. En el mismo perodo, el PIB en valores constantes
de 2007 se ubic en USD 17,663 millones. El deflactor del PIB trimestral (142.7) mostr un
decrecimiento de los precios agregados de la economa en -2.1%, respecto al trimestre anterior.

IMPORTACIONES
En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, las Importaciones de Bienes y Servicios se ubicaron en USD 7,804
millones corrientes (a precios de cada trimestre) y en USD 5,569 millones a precios constantes de
2007. El deflactor trimestral (140.1) mostr una tasa de variacin de 1.2% de los precios de las
compras externas, respecto al trimestre anterior.

GASTO DE CONSUMO FINAL DE LOS HOGARES

El Gasto de Consumo Final de los Hogares alcanz USD 15,551 millones corrientes (a precios de
cada trimestre) y USD 10,980 millones a precios constantes de 2007. El deflactor trimestral
(141.6) mostr un crecimiento de 1.5% de los precios internos de las adquisiciones en bienes y
servicios, respecto al trimestre anterior.

GASTO DE CONSUMO DEL GOBIERNO GENERAL

En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, el Gasto de Consumo Final de bienes y servicios del Gobierno
General fue de USD 3,830 millones corrientes (a precios de cada trimestre) y de USD 2,531
millones a precios constantes de 2007. El deflactor trimestral de este tipo de Gasto del Gobierno
General se ubic en 151.3 y mostr un crecimiento de 1.5% en los precios de sus adquisiciones de
bienes y servicios.

FORMACIN BRUTA DE CAPITAL FIJO

La Formacin Bruta de Capital Fijo, en valores corrientes (a precios de cada trimestre) alcanz
USD 6,910 millones en el cuarto trimestre de 2014; de su lado en el mismo perodo, a precios
constantes de 2007, se ubic en USD 4,787 millones. El deflactor (144.3) mostr un crecimiento
de los precios de la inversin en 0.3%, respecto al trimestre anterior.

EXPORTACIONES
En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, las Exportaciones de Bienes y Servicios se ubicaron en USD 6,354
millones (a precios de cada trimestre) y en USD 4,852 millones a precios constantes de 2007. El
deflactor trimestral de esta variable fue 130.9 lo que evidenci un decrecimiento de -13.8% de los
precios de las ventas externas ecuatorianas, respecto al trimestre anterior.

ECUADOR CRECE 3.8% EN EL AO 2014

Ecuador mantuvo la tendencia de crecimiento econmico, cerrando el ao 2014 con un resultado
positivo de 3.8%, situando al PIB (a precios constantes) en USD 69,632 millones. En el cuarto
trimestre de 2014 se increment en 0.5%, en relacin con el trimestre anterior (t/t-1) y present una
variacin positiva de 3.5% respecto al cuarto trimestre de 2013 (t/t-4).

Desde el enfoque oferta - utilizacin de bienes y

servicios, en el ao 2014, las exportaciones
crecieron en 6.2%; las Importaciones en 5.5%;
el Gasto de Consumo Final de los Hogares en
3.9%; la Formacin Bruta de Capital Fijo en
3.7%; y, el Gasto de Consumo Final del
Gobierno en 3.6%.

Los elementos que contribuyeron al crecimiento

econmico anual fueron: el Gasto de Consumo Final de
los Hogares, 2.41%; las Exportaciones, 1.66%; la
Formacin Bruta de Capital Fijo, 1.02%; el Gasto de
Consumo Final del Gobierno, 0.5%; la Variacin de
Existencias en -0.08%. Las Importaciones por su parte
contribuyeron al PIB con signo contrario en 1.70%.

2014, los componentes que mejor desempeo
presentaron fueron: Gasto de Consumo Final
del Gobierno, 1.7%: Exportaciones, 0.6% y
Gasto de Consumo Final de los Hogares, 0.4%.

otro lado contribuyeron negativamente, la Formacin

EL GASTO DE CONSUMO FINAL DE LOS HOGARES APORT EN

MAYOR MEDIDA AL CRECIMIENTO INTER-ANUAL (t/t-4)
En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, las variables que contribuyeron en mayor medida a la evolucin
econmica inter-anual (t/t-4) del PIB (3.5%), fueron: el Gasto de Consumo Final de los Hogares, 2.63
puntos; las Exportaciones, 1.03 puntos; el Gasto de Consumo Final del Gobierno, 0.85 puntos; la
Formacin Bruta de Capital Fijo, 0.75 puntos. Las importaciones contribuyeron (con signo negativo) en
2.14 puntos.

FORMACIN BRUTA DE CAPITAL FIJO, CONTRIBUY CON 1.2

AL CRECIMIENTO ANUAL DEL PIB
La FBKF (activos fijos no financieros de los sectores pblico y privado de la economa) en el cuarto
trimestre de 2014, tuvo un decrecimiento de -0.4% en relacin al trimestre anterior y de 2.8% con
respecto al cuarto trimestre de 2013 (variacin inter-anual t/t-4). Entre los componentes con mayor
crecimiento anual que conforman la FBKF, destacan: Construccin (5.5%), con la contribucin ms
significativa de 3.51 puntos; Productos de metales comunes y productos metlicos elaborados (13.1%)
que contribuy en 0.48 puntos; y, Agricultura (2.4%), con una contribucin de 0.06 puntos.

Las actividades econmicas que presentaron el mayor crecimiento anual del Valor Agregado Bruto fueron:
Acuicultura y pesca de camarn (14.1%); Electricidad y agua (9.0%); Petrleo y Minas, (8.0%) Actividades
profesionales, tcnicas y administrativas (7.7%); Alojamiento y servicios de comida (6.9%); y
Construccin (5.5%).

Las actividades econmicas que presentaron una mayor contribucin (puntos porcentuales) a la

REFINACIN DE PETRLEO
El Valor Agregado Bruto de la actividad de Refinacin de Petrleo mostr una recuperacin de
27.1% respecto al tercer trimestre de 2014 (t/t-1) y -68.7%, en relacin al cuarto trimestre de 2013
(t/t-4). La variacin anual se ubic en -47.9%, debido fundamentalmente a las paralizaciones
programadas en el ao 2014 de la Refinera de Esmeraldas, para su repotenciacin.

ACTIVIDADES DE SERVICIOS FINANCIEROS

En el cuarto trimestre de 2014, la Intermediacin financiera (actividad econmica que incluye la
produccin de los bancos privados, bancos pblicos, mutualistas, financieras, seguros de vida y no
de vida, tarjetas de crdito, etc.), registr un crecimiento de 3.8% en su tasa trimestral (t/t-1); y, en
7.4% en la variacin interanual (t/t-4). A nivel anual se mostr un crecimiento de (3.6%).

LA ENSEANZA Y SERVICIOS SOCIALES Y DE SALUD, REGISTRARON UNA

CONTRIBUCIN POSITIVA DE 0.16 PUNTOS A LA VARIACIN ANUAL DEL PIB
El VAB de la actividad econmica de Enseanza y Servicios Sociales y de Salud, creci en 1.2% en el
cuarto trimestre de 2014 (t/t-1); y, registr un crecimiento de 2.7% en relacin al cuarto trimestre de
2013. La variacin anual se ubic en 2.0%.

La Administracin Pblica en 2014 tuvo un incremento anual de 4.2%, adems, registr un
crecimiento de 2.4% en el desempeo del cuarto trimestre de 2014, respecto al trimestre anterior; y,
report un aumento de 8.7% en la variacin inter-anual t/t-4.

El Servicio domstico mostr en 2014 un crecimiento anual de 3.0%. En el cuarto trimestre de

La actividad econmica Otros Servicios, que agrupan las industrias Inmobiliarias; Entretenimiento,
Recreacin; y, otras Actividades de Servicios, se increment trimestralmente en 1.3% (t/t-1); y, en
2.9% respecto al cuarto trimestre de 2013. La variacin anual que present en 2014 fue de 2.5%.
