Abstract: Changes in the social structure of Argentina after World War I enabled women more freedom
making it possible for them to join the labor market, practice sports and start traveling on their own. This
had a great impact on fashion and the forms of socialization that can be observed at seaside resorts.
Ladies wardrobes, before change characterized by formality and not allowing any part of the body to be
visible changed to a high degree of casualness. Sun tanning also started to be an important part of the
holiday experience and became an important element of social differentiation.
