Getting + adjective.

Utilizamos get + adjetivo para hablar de un cambio de un estado o condicin a otro


estado o condicin.
Si queremos hablar de una condicin o estado que se encuentra en la proceso de
cambio, podemos utilizar la estructura getting + adjetivo.

I'm getting drunk. - Me estoy emborrachando.


Im getting fat. - Me estoy engordando.
I am getting tired. - Me estoy cansando.
He is getting old. - Est envejeciendo.
It's getting late. - Se est haciendo tarde.
The weather was getting worse. - El tiempo estaba empeorando

Aqu hay una lista de los ms comunes.


to get angry - enfadarse.
to get better - mejorarse, recuperarse.
to get bored - aburrirse.
to get cold - sentir fro / hacer fro.
to get dark - oscurecer.
to get dirty - ensuciarse.
to get drunk - emborrachar / emborracharse.
to get hot - sentir calor / hacer fro.
to get hungry empezar a tener / entrar hambre.
to get hurt - lastimarse
to get late - atardecer
to get lost - perderse
to get married - casarse
to get old envejecer.
to get sick - enfermarse.
to get sleepy empezar a tener sueo, adormecerse.
to get thirsty empezar a tener sed.
to get tired - cansarse.
to get well - mejorarse / recuperarse.
to get wet - mojarse.
to get worried empezar a preocuparse.

La estructura getting + comparativo del adjetivo.

Ahora vamos a suponer que John, un joven de 15 aos, ya es alto y sigue creciendo. En
tal caso, podemos decir: John is getting taller. Aqu estamos usando el comparativo
del adjetivo tall. Esta estructura es til cuando queremos decir que algo sigue
cambindose.
Its getting hotter. - Hace ms calor.
Its getting colder. - Hace ms fro.

Para dar incluso ms nfasis podemos repetir el comparativo as;


Its getting hotter and hotter. - Hace cada vez ms calor.

Its getting colder and colder. - Hace cada vez ms fro.

Things are getting better and better. (El adjectivo del


comparativo better es good)

The cost of living is getting more and more expensive. (El comparativo del
adjetivoexpensive es moor expensive)

Segundo Condicional - (type II)

If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world.


Si ganara la lotera, viajara por todo el mundo.

If I were in Brazil, I would go to Rio de Janeiro.


Si yo estuviese en Brasil, ira a Ro de Janeiro.

If I were you, I would buy that car.


Si yo fuese t, comprara ese auto.

If he were in my place, he wouldn't do this.


Si l estuviese en mi lugar, no hara esto.

If I had more money, I would buy a nice apartment.


Si yo tuviese ms dinero, me comprara un lindo apartamento.

If she had more time, she would travel more often.


Si ella tuviera ms tiempo, viajara ms a menudo.

If it were not raining, we could go out.


Si no estuviese lloviendo, podramos salir.

If we didn't have to work today, we could have a picnic.


Si no tuvisemos que trabajar hoy, podramos tener un picnic.

If they won the lottery, they wouldn't work any more.


Si ellos ganaran la lotera, no trabajaran ms.

If I saw her, I would ask her out.


Si la viera, la invitara a salir.
