Hola, si eres uno de los 80,000 visitantes que llegan a Chihuahua al mes, me da gusto que esta gua sea la carta de presentacin a nuestra ciudad; si eres local, gracias por tomarte el tiempo de leer esto. Chihuahua est en una etapa de transformacin, de progreso y de cosas buenas por delante. Desde que comenzamos este proyecto se han abierto nuevas plazas comerciales, construido edificios y cada vez hay nuevos lugares para comer o divertirse. Hace tiempo imprimir una gua enfocada a los restaurantes y el entretenimiento no pareca una buena idea, afortunadamente ha sido muy bien recibida (gracias) y esperemos siga funcionando porque nos encanta este trabajo. Creo que es tiempo de invitar a todos los Chihuahuenses a dejar de lado lo malo por lo que hemos pasado, unir fuerzas y construir juntos una ciudad para presumir, la merecemos. Hello, if you are one of the 80,000 visitors coming to Chihuahua each month, Im glad this guide is your introduction to our great city. As you may have noticed, Chihuahua is constantly growing and each day something new is planned, built, reconstructed or developed. We are currently on a transformation phase and its for the better. Since we started this project, new buildings have risen, commercial districts built, new restaurants and bars opened and things seem to be very positive on the long run. Before, printing a guide of this kind for a city like Chihuahua wasnt a good idea, fortunately our readers seem to be enjoying our work and we hope it stays like that. Un monumento histrico de la ciudad, la Seorial Casona an se conserva en lo que hoy es el restaurante ms elegante de Chihuahua. La Cocinera
El lugar de ms reciente apertura, es un concepto original que cuida los detalles en la comida, presentacin y decoracin. Boutique, moderno y acogedor. La comida es excelente, ofrece platillos inspirados en cafs y bistrs de Paris y Nueva York, misma esencia que conserva el diseo interior. Un Mac n Cheese con trufas, una sopa de cebolla, un aguachile de filete o un atn sellado. En los platillos se nota la creatividad y la pasin de un chef local influenciado por diferentes culturas, pases y tradiciones. The newest place in town, this restaurant is an original concept all-around. A boutique place with modern design that is extremely comfortable. As the local chef tells us, inspiration comes from cafs and bistros in New York, Paris and Europe. The interior design and presentation clearly resembles this. Food is great; we recommend Mac n Cheese with truffle, onion soup or the tuna. You will clearly perceive the influence of different cultures, countries and traditions.

La Crema y Nata
Rodeado de residencias tradicionales de principios del siglo XX post revolucionario, esta casa es una de las ms antiguas en la ciudad. Transformada recientemente en una academia culinaria, el Instituto Superior de Arte Gastronmico. El ambiente es tranquilo y personal, perfecto para gente de negocios, parejas o familias. Las creaciones son refinadas, con presentaciones creativas y un excelente sazn. El Chef Octavio, decano en el instituto, nos comenta que abajo, en la escuela, surgen las ideas y en el restaurante se perfeccionan y se sirven. Surrounded by traditional post revolutionary residences from mid XX century, this house is amongst the oldest in town. It was recently transformed to host the ISAG (Superior Art and Gastronomy Institute). On the second floor and terrace sits the restaurant to this school. The place is perfect for business and later on to grab a bite with that special someone. Food creations are refined and with creative and artistic presentations. Chef Octavio says ideas come from the school and are perfected at the restaurants kitchen.

Una de las ms recientes aperturas, este lugar ha tenido bastante xito en Monterrey, ahora viene a Chihuahua a comprobar que aqu tambin nos gusta el buen comer. Se distingue por sus platillos con influencias de alrededor del mundo. Desde China y Japn hasta Mxico, pasando por Francia, Italia y Espaa. Su men es muy variado, con platillos para todos los gustos. El lugar es moderno, con una decoracin eclctica y elementos bien combinados para crear un buen ambiente, perfecto para negocios, familia o amigos. Recently opened, Ask Monica comes from the nearby city of Monterrey, a food-loving metropolis. They know we also have a craving for good restaurants, so they came to Chihuahua :)! Spring is back and we embrace it with great food, wine, coffee and deserts in a beautiful terrace with a view to a park. This place has this magic about it. Food is handmade in the upstairs kitchen, absorbing a homemade flavor. La Herradura
En el norte la carne es protagonista en la mesa, los cortes jugosos y naturales * son tradicin. La carne de este lugar llega desde el famoso Rancho el 17 en Sonora, y aqu se cocina a la perfeccin para exaltar su sabor. From the creators of Tacos Baja comes this place with a fresh concept and a slightly different menu, keeping those platters we love. At lunchtime the clients go casually, co-workers meet up to grab a bite and a beer. Later on it is great to meet up with friends at their recently renewed terrace. El Retablo
La comida tradicional mexicana es una de las ms difciles en el mundo (no por nada es patrimonio de la UNESCO). Se debe tener buen sazn, experiencia y mucha paciencia. En este lugar hay todo eso, lleva 20 aos sirviendo especialidades mexicanas y cortes al carbn. Para esta poca de calor se antoja una trucha al cilantro, los tacos de camarn al chipotle o unos camarones regios son excelente opcin. O la especialidad de la casa: un buen corte de carne, unos nopalitos y tortillas de nixtamal.

Este Restaurante hermano del italiano ms tradicional de Saltillo, Coahuila, ha sido muy bien recibido en Chihuahua. Tiene una de las mejores vistas de la ciudad y la comida es excelente, con recetas tradicionales de la vieja Italia y platillos de temporada constantemente en la carta. Adems una decoracin acogedora pero moderna al mismo tiempo. Brother to the most traditional Italian restaurant in the neighbor states capital, Saltillo. This place has a great view to the city and the close by mountain range. At lunchtime its perfect for business, with a select wine list, chosen by an foreign sommelier and paired with the menu. The interior dcor is conservative but modern. At night groups of friends and couples enjoy the view and great food done with fresh ingredients, accompanied by wine and good times. We recommend the three-chili tuna!

Este restaurante tiene un men que selecciona cautelosamente platillos tpicos de la comida mexicana de diferentes regiones, tacos de guisados, sopes, flautas y guacamole preparado frente a ti. This place is decorated to resemble an old Mexican pueblo, and its menu has a variety of selected Mexican platters from different regions. Stews, sopes, flautas and guacamole, prepared freshly to the eyes of the beholder. They also have a selection of grilled steaks. Hey, you wanna try some tacos from around Mexico, this is the place. We recommend the cordero tacos, and, to share, the molcajete (Aztec bowl) is always great. Wednesday to Saturday a mariachi band is in the house!

En este lugar se sirven mariscos frescos trados desde el mar de Corts (ms fresco no se puede). Asemeja una palapa en la playa con una decoracin que hace que se te olviden tus penas y te sientas lejos de la ciudad. La rapidez en el servicio cura en instantes la resaca del da anterior y su aguachile es conocido por levantar muertos (como a Lzaro). Ahora con tres ubicaciones en la ciudad no tienes excusas para no visitarlos, ms en primavera que todo mundo anda como burro. We suspect Sr. Camaron (Mr. Shrimp) comes from a town near the Cortes Sea, not only does his food taste like coming from the coast, but the place resembles a small beach house over there. Service is quick and can take care of your hangover fast. Their aguachile (shrimp or scallops bathed in chili water) is said to bring you back to life (Jesus style). They now have three locations in town, youve got no excuse to miss out on some good Mexican seafood my friend.

Este restaurante de comida china lleva ms de 11 aos en pie y no es casualidad. Aqu la gente ha encontrado un lugar para comer exquisitamente desde el desayuno hasta la cena. Durante el da es perfecto para ir con los compaeros del trabajo, la familia o los amigos. El mircoles el Karaoke pone a cantar hasta al ms serio. Los fines de semana son para ir y disfrutar de la msica en vivo, los diferentes artistas y el cuarteto Ocasin los viernes y sbado se ha vuelto una insignia del lugar. This place has been around town for more than ten years, and that is no coincidence. Locals have found a place to eat good from dawn till dusk. During daytime the place receives mostly co-workers, families and friends. On weekends its all about enjoying food and live music. Wednesdays are famous local karaoke nights (give it a try, maybe youll feel a little lost in translation!). Friday and Saturday a cuarteto band entertains the crowd. Se acabaron los cuentos, se acabaron las largas, el Barezzito ya tiene una nueva cantante, se llama Yamile, y s, est tan guapa como nos haban dicho. A dueto con Pepe, nuestra estrella local, seguro hacen que la pases bien. Un buen lugar para conocer gente con un ambiente muy joven. Se est volviendo tradicin en la ciudad, con msica en vivo y una variedad de shots exticos que no puedes dejar de probar, noms acurdate, todo con moderacin. Abierto de mircoles a sbado, haz reservacin. A rumor had been going on for a while; a new singer was coming to Barezzito and every wait must come to an end, so they say, and the wait has come to and end indeed. Beautiful Yamile is here from Argentina to entertain us with her voice in duet with Pepe, our local star. The old train workshop for the XIX century National Railways of Mexico is now house to the Museum of Modern Art Casa Redonda (Round House). Decidimos hacer una resea con un toque divertido y diferente para este parque que ha sido parte ya de nuestra gua. La resea refleja lo que nos transmite la gente que vemos casi a diario en la presa. El lugar es perfecto para la recreacin, familia y deporte, un centro comunitario de altura con visin a largo plazo. This is the second time this park is part of our guide, so we decided to write a more interactive and joyful review. But first we want to show our support and congratulate all the people that have been involved in the parks project. The review illustrates what we perceive in the people we see almost everyday in the park. La primavera lleg y la naturaleza el fro se llev. La gente anda feliz con una sonrisa bajo la nariz. Las actividades al aire libre estn de vuelta y la gente entra y sale por las puertas. Sobre agua o tierra el ejercicio puedes hacer y en las reas de descanso comer. Las familias llegan y traen a todos, se ve la felicidad y risas hasta por los codos. Comunidad somos y la unidad nos fortalece. Que orgullo ser Chihuahuense!

Spring is here and summer near, humans and birds get out of their nests. People smile all the while and outdoor sports are back in town. On the ground, in or on water everyone seems to be a fun plotter. Recreation and games strengthen this community now dressed in shorts. Families come by to say hi and walk around, some with their hound. Maybe kayak, a hike or just to chill, many bring food and some picnic mats too, thanks to the weather, all is good!

La Sierra Tarahumara
Este pedazo del planeta parece detener el tiempo. Un sistema rocoso impactante a los ojos de cualquier espectador y uno de los pulmones ms importantes de la bisfera terrestre que da vida a una flora y fauna nica. La Sierra Tarahumara est escasamente poblada por pequeas tribus que corren con el nombre de Rarmuris o Tarahumaras. Este grupo es mundialmente conocido por su habilidad de correr distancias extremas descalzos, y sostienen ms medallas y rcords que el pas entero en esta disciplina. Les extendemos nuestra admiracin y respeto.

A magical land that would seem to be lost in time; this amazing mountain range is an important lung to the Worlds ecosystem and gives life to a wonderful flora and fauna. Scarcely populated by native tribes, descendants of the Raramuri or Tarahumara people, long here before colonization, and renowned for their long-distance running ability, a tribe of barefoot runners that has more records in extreme endurance sports than any other in the world. Respect!

La llegada es por Creel, un pequeo pueblo con una estacin ferroviaria. Los locales se renen para recibir visitantes de todo el mundo, estn ansiosos por presumir las maravillas que la naturaleza imagin en su tierra. De frente, la cascada de Basaseachic se erige imponente, un chorro de agua que brota de una gigantesca muralla de roca y cae 246 metros hasta estrellarse en la tierra y levantar una refrescante brisa. Cusrare es una cascada ms pequea, enclavada en el sistema montaoso, rodeada de pinos. El lago Arareco esta siempre calmado y envuelto en un bosque rodeado de formaciones rocosas inusuales, mismas que se ven en el mstico valle de los monjes. Creel is the landing point, a small town with a train station that receives tourists from all corners of Earth. Local people await, eager to show off natures grand design. The Basaseachic falls stand tall at 807 feet in front of your unbelieving eyes, surrounded by an imposing rock wall from where water springs to a vertical fall to the ground. Cusrare falls are engraved inside the mountain range covered by oak trees and natures delight. Pines surround Arareco Lake and unusual rock formations are seen in the nearby Monks and Fungi valleys, named after the shapes of the hundreds of rocks piled one over the other.

Esta joya abre solamente el fin de semana y el men consta de dos platillos: asado de puerco y un segundo guisado de pollo que cambia los domingos o barbacoa los sbados, pero no se necesita ms. Un verdadero lugar familiar, donde la espectacular comida se empieza a preparar desde el lunes, cuidando hasta el ltimo detalle. Acompaa tu platillo con tostadas, tortillas recin hechas, frijoles y rajas con queso. Adems, tiene un museo de antigedades! You dont go to this place to eat, you go to experience food. Open only on weekends, the menu consists of two delicious dishes: Pork Stew and a variation of barbacoa on Saturdays and chicken stew on Sundays, no more is needed. A true family run restaurant, where the spectacular food is cautiously and lovingly prepared starting Monday. Rounded up with hand made tortillas, beans and rajas con queso, the mixed platter is the star of the show. Dont forget to visit the antiques museum on your way out!

Que les podemos decir, nos encanta conocer nuevos lugares cada da, este fue gracias a nuestro querido amigo Chechas (fantico de este lugar) y cmo no le iban a gustar estas tortas si es un amplio conocedor de la gastronoma callejera y no se equivoca. La especialidad sin duda es la torta de lomo, con jamn y queso (uf!), pero El Pipirpipau no te va a quedar mal si tu antojo es de una hamburguesa o un burrito. Abierto todos los das menos domingos de 10 a 16 horas.

This place came highly recommended by one of our most trustworthy street stall all knowing friends, and he never gets it wrong (at least till now). This place sells authentic tortas, the house specialty, back meat with ham and cheese, yummy! But this place also sells some unearthly burgers and burritos, put some spicy chili on it for a better Mexican taste! Open till 4pm.

Adems hay variedad pues vende tacos de tripitas, asado de puerco, barbacoa y chicharrn en salsa verde, todos deliciosos. Su experiencia viene de Cd. Cuauhtmoc, donde empez el Tacazo hace casi 15 aos. Y como dice nuestro amigo de Facebook (sguenos) Mike Romn: sss y bien baras, ni cuenta nos dimos cuando ya nos habamos comido 14. Rumor has it that eating brains makes you a brighter person; to be honest we cant tell you this is scientifically true, but this place sells some dam good brain tacos, and that will make you and your stomach happier :)! Experience comes from a street stall in a nearby city 15 years back, where this place started off. They also have great pork stew, chicharron in green salsa, godly barbacoa and, of course, tripe! Try all of them and youll officially be mexicand!

Siempre decimos, la comida sabe ms rica cuando es preparada y servida con amabilidad. El Varn es una persona muy agradable y sus hamburguesas al carbn nos han consentido varias veces, no por nada lo incluimos en esta seccin. Aparte de hamburguesas tambin hay montados y taquitos para el que traiga otro tipo de antojo. Cuidado con la salsa roja, nuestro corresponsal callejero se crey muy macho, le puso demasiado y casi pierde la vida, bueno no tanto pero ya no hallbamos como desenchilarlo. A couple of senior hard working entrepreneurs run this place and they have such a warm heart, crucial ingredient in service and food. A joyful place over an important commercial strip that sells great carbon grilled burgers, of course, Mexican street style. They also sell montados, a delicious giant flour taco with steak and cheese, typical around here. Tacos are also good here, and we must warn you on the red salsa, it is extremely hot and can cause Moctezumas revenge! (google it)
