ALFONSO GARCA ROBLES

El primer mexicano en recibir este premio fue el diplomtico y poltico Alfonso
Garca Robles, a quien se le entreg el Premio Nobel de la Paz en 1982 por su
notable lucha contra la proliferacin de las armas nucleares.
El Premio Nobel de la Paz, Alfonso Garca Robles, expuso que nunca antes se ha
visto la humanidad enfrentada, como hoy al peligro real de la extincin provocada
por ella misma. De ah que la disyuntiva sea que el mundo acabe con las armas o
stas acaben con el mundo.

OCTAVIO PAZ
El segundo personaje mexicano en recibir esta condecoracin fue el legendario
poeta, escritor, ensayista y diplomtico, Octavio Paz.
Toda la gama de reconocimientos para Paz tuvo su cierre magistral con el
otorgamiento del Nobel de Literatura 1990, el primero en este rubro para un
escritor mexicano. Al enterarse de tal designacin, dijo a quien esto escribe, en
Nueva York; El Nobel no es un pasaporte a la inmortalidad. La relativa
inmortalidad de las obras literarias y artsticas la da la calidad.

MARIO MOLINA
El destacado qumico Mario Molina fue el tercer mexicano en obtener este
reconocimiento por su destacada labor cientfica que llevo al mundo entero a
conocer los efectos de ciertos gases sobre la capa de ozono.
Pero para Mario Molina la historia no termin con el premio nobel, pues recibi de
las manos del mismsimo presidente de los Estados Unidos, Barack Obama,
la Medalla de la Libertad, el mayor honor civil de ese pas.
