HCHs in the Preliminary Inventory of Contaminated Areas of
Brazil

• In the list of the preliminary report for contaminated areas,

HCHs residues appear in around 19% of them (22 in 117
areas). Official storage for old vector control uses represents
half of them had confirmatory and/or remediation
measures, that were only taken for a few of this areas, with
a clear difference between São Paulo and other states, since
in São Paulo, the monitoring and remediation activities are
much more advanced.

• The first info regarding POPs on our NIP (NIP, 2015), states
that some 20 foods, including different livestock and other
food sources, are frequently tested for more than 200 types
of pesticides, including alpha-; beta-HCH and lindane.
However, results of these investigations never come out for
the general public easily or in a sound manner. Most of the
time, since this products a forbidden in the country, they
represent a snapshot of the overall environmental
contamination, and none mitigation measures can be taken
in place.

When making the Portuguese version, Miguel Falabella
adapted the lines to the cadence of the music. “The text is

Petroleum Co to kill small insects such as flies and ants.

Unfortunately for him, The Merry Widow also appealed to a contemporary of

his: Adolf Hitler. Alongside Richard Wagner, Lehár was one of Hitler's
favorite composers, which would scratch his post-war reputation.
Interestingly, for the Nazi leader, The Merry Widow was the ultimate, despite
the fact that Lehár was married to a Jewish woman. Lehár did not separate
from his wife and, unlike other artists, was able to continue composing under
the Nazi regime. As a result, he was accused by colleagues of having
collaborated with Hitler and Goebbels. He died in 1948, leaving a legacy of
over 30 operettas. He was one of the greatest composers of the genre,
surpassed only by Johann Strauss.

This studies, besides the observations of altered liver, hematological,
sexual hormones and cognitive functions in heavily exposed
populations (CARVALHO et all, 2014, FREIRE at all, 2014, 2015 and
CAMPOS et all, 2015) clearly shows that this problems, although
seeming to be ubiquitous, like there are all of the POPs pesticides, are
being neglected by the Environmental Authorities of Brazil and also by
the Academy. We hope that at the aftermath of the critical political crisis
faced by Brazil will create new opportunities for the international
community to continue help Brazil to achieve a cleaner environment in
the near future.

Meu pai fabricava BHC, fui criado em meio ao pó do veneno

banido pelas multinacionais que dêsde sempre fizeram e
fazem até hoje o que querem nesta República de bananas.

Digo isso não por conta do país que maravilhoso em seu todo
geográfico, nem pelos bons cidadãos que aqui vivem, más sim
pelos políticos imundos que na grande maioria se vendem por
um bom dinheiro.

Nada mudou dêsde o "descobrimento"da ilha de vera cruz.

Haha vista o que estão fazendo com a cloroquina.

My father manufactured BHC, I was raised in the midst of the

poison dust banned by the multinationals that have always
done and still do what they want in this Banana Republic.

I say this not because of the country, which is wonderful in its

geographic whole, nor because of the good citizens who live
here, but because of the filthy politicians who, in the vast
majority, sell themselves for good money.

Nothing has changed since the "discovery" of the island of

Vera Cruz.

Just seen what they are doing with chloroquine.
