Antecedentes
● Hasta finales de los años ochenta en
los países desarrollados se empieza a
generar una experiencia ambiental
predominantemente apegada a lo
urbano y a la relación salud-
ambiente 
La gestión ambiental hoy en día se ha construido
mediante una estrecha relación, política, social,
económica, cultural y ambiental evolucionada y
cambiante.
Que se inicia en el mismo momento, en que se origina
una población en un territorio determinado

La gestión ambiental nace en los años 70 del siglo XX, como parte del
pensamiento ambiental entre el ecodesarrollo y desarrollo sostenible y
como un instrumento de diagnóstico y planificación (planes, programas y
proyectos) para resolver problemas ambientales, cada vez más agudos en
los países industrializados.
1972
Se llevó a cabo la Conferencia de las Naciones
Unidas sobre el Medio Humano, en Estocolmo
Suecia, donde se establecieron 26 principios para
preservar y mejorar el medio humano.
1983
La Asamblea General de la ONU creó la Comisión Mundial sobre el
Medio Ambiente y el Desarrollo, cuyo objetivo principal se centra en
informar sobre el medio ambiente y la problemática mundial.
Surge la primera idea de Sistemas de
Gestión Medioambiental en la norma
BS 7750 la cual habla sobre las

“Especificación para Sistemas de
Gestión Ambiental”
tomando los conceptos de gestión de
Calidad definidos en la serie de normas
ISO 9000, y que permite la
Certificación de Sistemas de Gestión
Medioambiental en
procesos productivos.
Oranización Internacional de Normas
Series 14000
En 1996, la Organización Internacional de Normas
estableció normas internacionales voluntarias para ayudar a
las empresas, organizaciones y gobiernos a medir y lograr
mejoras en su comportamiento ambiental, tener un
acercamiento común a la gestión ambiental y reducir las
barreras para negociar facilitando el cumplimiento
transfronterizo.
1996
Se publica la Norma Internacional ISO 14001, “Sistemas
de Gestión Medioambiental - Requisitos y guía de
utilización”,

ISO 14001 define los requisitos que deben poseer los


Sistemas de Gestión Medioambiental de las empresas
cara a la certificación, se publican normas
complementarias, de la familia 14000, con el objeto de
ayudar a las empresas en el diseño y
desarrollo de este tipo de Sistemas.
