¿Cuáles son las causa?

 ¿Cuáles son las causas?
⊷ La causa del síndrome de Down es cromosómica, es
decir, se produce por la presencia de un tercer
cromosoma 21, dando origen a la trisomía del par 21,
lo que lleva a que la persona tenga un exceso de
información genética. Entonces, dentro de la trisomía
podemos definir tres variantes:
⊷ a) Trisomía 21 libre: corresponde al 95% de los casos,
es al azar y no tiene relación con la herencia.
⊷ b) Translocación: este tipo corresponde
aproximadamente al 4% de los casos y se debe a la
unión de dos cromosomas en uno, habitualmente entre
el 14 y un cromosoma 21. En estos casos se
recomienda realizar un estudio a los padres llamado
de cariotipo

La intervención temprana en los bebés y
niños con síndrome de Down puede hacer
una gran diferencia en el mejoramiento de su
calidad de vida. Dado que cada niño con
síndrome de Down es único, el tratamiento
dependerá de sus necesidades particulares.
Además, las distintas etapas de la vida
pueden requerir distintos servicios.
