OFIMATICA.
This type of conditional is used in situations where if a condition is met, a certain
result is likely to occur.
Este tipo de condicional se usa en situaciones en las que si se cumple una condición,
es probable que se dé un resultado determinado.
Para expresar la forma negativa del first conditional deberá realizarse la negación de la if - clause –
y en otros casos la negación de las dos partes del condicional.
Examples:
Si me llama, no responderé.
■ If he calls me, I won’t answer.
Si no estudio mucho, no aprobaré el
■ If I don’t study hard, I won’t pass the exam. examen.
■ If you eat something now, you won’t be hungry later. Si comes algo ahora, no tendrás
hambre más tarde.
Examples:
■ What will you do if you fail your test? ¿Qué harás si no pasas la prueba?
■ Where will you go if you move out of you ¿A dónde irá si se muda de la casa de sus
parents’ house? padres?
¿Qué dirás si te pide tu opinión?
■ What will you say if she asks for your
opinion?

■ If his friends ________ (come), he __________ (be) extremely happy.
■ If I _________ (save) enough money this year, I ________ (go) to New York.
■ You _______ (stay) at my place if you _________ (come) to my city.
RESULTADOS.
■ If his friends come, he will be extremely happy.
■ If I save enough money this year, I will go to New York.
■ You can stay at my place if you would (come) to my city.
This type of conditional is used to talk about events that are unlikely to happen
in the future.
Examples
■ If I were a man, I’d grow a beard. Si fuera hombre, me dejaría la barba.
Si fuera nuestro jefe, lo llamaríamos señor.
■ If he were our boss, we’d call him sir. ¡Si fuéramos guerreros, lucharíamos contra el

Examples:
■ If the policeman hadn't seen the thief, ■ Si el policía no hubiera visto al ladrón,

■ Would you give me a hand if I needed it? Claro que si. Solo pregunta.
Of course I would. Just ask.
■ ¿Le agradaría si fuera mi jefa?
■ Would she like me if she were my boss?

If they knew him well, they would invite him to their parties.
If you had more money, you wouldn’t travel in low-cost flights.
If she asked me nicely, I would go shopping with her.
