If a young woman of today could go back in
time and visit her great-grandmother, she
would probably be amazed at the heavy iron
pots and pans being used in an oil-
fashioned kitchen. She would no doubt find
that it required much energy to lift and
carry her great-grandmother's heavy
utensils. And when it came time to help
with the dishes, she would find that
washing the pots and pans and putting
them away required an additional
expenditure of energy. She would probably
very be very glad to get back to her own
present-day kitchen, with its lightweight
equipment, much of it made of aluminum.
