RESUMEN 1984

Es una novela distópica que fue publicada en 1949. Seguimos con ella la
vida de Winston Smith, un miembro de bajo rango de «El Partido», que se
siente frustrado por los ojos omnipresentes del movimiento al que pertenece
y su ominoso gobernante, el denominado Gran Hermano. Sí, Gran
Hermano, dos palabras que aún a día de hoy son muy conocidas gracias a
Telecinco, aunque fuera del mensaje o la metáfora que supone el titulo, no
sé si debiéramos dar la gracias a un canal de televisión que brinda tanto por
la vulgaridad y la ordinariez. En fin. Fuera de eso. En esta gran novela que
tanto inspiró a otros y que es lo que nos atañe, el Gran Hermano controla
todos los aspectos de la vida de las personas.

Ha inventado un nuevo lenguaje en un intento de eliminar por completo la

rebelión política verbal, crea un sistema para evitar que la gente piense en
cosas consideradas rebeldes y El Partido controla lo que la gente lee, habla,
dice y hace, con la amenaza de que si desobedecen, serán enviados a la
temida Habitación 101. Con el castigo correspondiente, por supuesto. ¿Qué
ocurre? Que como es de prever cuando un ser vivo se siente acosado hasta
la saciedad, algo se rompe en la mente de Winston Smith, el cual comienza
una rebelión sutil contra El Partido al llevar encima un diario de sus
pensamientos secretos. Hecho que se considera un crimen, por supuesto.
Winston, con su amante Julia, comienza una lucha predestinada por la
libertad y la justicia, en un mundo donde nadie más parece ver lo terrible del
asunto, o no gustarle, la acción que se propone el protagonista.

Quizás la noción más poderosa, efectiva y aterradora de 1984 es que el

control completo de una nación entera bajo un estado totalitario es
perfectamente posible. Se huele el miedo y sabemos que ¡En 2021! esto
podría suceder. De hecho, existe algo muy parecido en algún que otro país
que ya sabemos, ¿no? También sabemos, de algún modo, que solo hay
que analizar la historia del ser humano reciente para ver que, si el mundo
cayera bajo el control de uno o incluso varios dictadores como el Gran
Hermano, el futuro podría convertirse fácilmente en un mundo retorcido y
cruel como el que aparece en 1984. Donde cada movimiento, palabra y
respiración es examinado por un poder omnipotente y omnipresente que
nadie puede detener. Y las posibilidades de «desaparecer», aumentan.

Orwell hace una exploración eficaz sobre el control. Nos avisa de la capaz
infinita a la que se puede llegar a través de los medios de comunicación, la
vigilancia del gobierno, el totalitarismo y cómo un dictador puede manipular
y controlar la historia, los pensamientos e incluso influir en nuestras vidas de
tal modo que nadie puede escapar. Os cuento más. Se reescribieron libros y
artículos para convertir los hechos en los que el gobierno quería que los
ciudadanos creyeran. Gran Hermano estaba en todas partes, dictando
incluso cómo había que pensar. Winston Smith lideró una lucha por la
libertad y la justicia… Aun asi, 1984 envía un poderoso mensaje sobre los
peligros de una manipulación excesiva sobre la sociedad y la intromisión en
la vida privada de las personas. A día de hoy este tema sigue vigente pues
es obvio pensar que internet es una herramienta poderosa para el
«proyecto». Además, la política actual, a través de noticias falsas o ciertas
(poco se puede saber ya), hacen uso de este sistema de forma subliminal.
Se puede ver, por ejemplo, a ciertos países utilizando acusaciones mutuas
de intromisiones en su país por parte de rusos o chinos…, etc, etc.
Cualquier cosa vale con tal de manipular al pueblo en su beneficio. Nos lo
enseñó la antigua Roma, ¿no?

It is a dystopian novel that was published in 1949. We follow the life of

Winston Smith, a low-ranking member of "The Party", who feels frustrated by
the omnipresent eyes of the movement to which he belongs and its ominous

It has invented a new language in an attempt to completely eliminate verbal

political rebellion, creates a system to prevent people from thinking about
things considered rebellious, and The Party controls what people read,
speak, say and do, with the threat of that if they disobey, they will be sent to
the dreaded Room 101. With the corresponding punishment, of course.
What happen? As expected, when a living being feels harassed ad
nauseam, something breaks in the mind of Winston Smith, who begins a
subtle rebellion against The Party by carrying a diary of his secret thoughts.
Fact that is considered a crime, of course. Winston, with his lover Julia,
begins a predestined fight for freedom and justice, in a world where no one
else seems to see the terribleness of the matter, or not like, the action that
the protagonist proposes.

Perhaps the most powerful, effective and terrifying notion of 1984 is that
complete control of an entire nation under a totalitarian state is perfectly
possible. We smell fear and we know that in 2021! this could happen. In fact,
there is something very similar in some other country that we already know,
right? We also know, somehow, that you only have to look at recent human
history to see that, if the world were to fall under the control of one or even
several dictators like Big Brother, the future could easily become a twisted
and cruel like the one that appears in 1984. Where every movement, word
and breath is examined by an omnipotent and omnipresent power that no
one can stop. And the chances of "disappearing" increase.

Orwell makes an effective exploration of control. It warns us of the infinite

potential that can be reached through the media, government surveillance,
totalitarianism and how a dictator can manipulate and control history,
thoughts and even influence our lives in such a way that no one can escape.
I'll tell you more. Books and articles were rewritten to make the facts what
the government wanted citizens to believe. Big Brother was everywhere,
even dictating how to think. Winston Smith led a fight for freedom and
justice... Still, 1984 sends a powerful message about the dangers of
excessive manipulation of society and intrusion into people's private lives.
To this day this topic is still valid because it is obvious to think that the
Internet is a powerful tool for the "project." Furthermore, current politics,
through false or true news (little can be known now), make use of this
system subliminally. You can see, for example, certain countries using
mutual accusations of interference in their country by the Russians or
Chinese..., etc., etc. Anything goes to manipulate the people for your benefit.
Ancient Rome taught us that, right?
