Historia de Cunduacán
At the end of the 19th century, Cunduacán was elevated to the category of city
on November 5, 1880. Since then, it has also been called the Athens of Tabasco
due to the large number of illustrious men born there.
Before 1625, this population was located in a place called “Pueblo Viejo'', which
today is a shallow or popalera that is located about 5 kilometers from it and
that disappeared due to sinking, according to tradition, (perhaps caused by a
great crescent of those that we currently know and of whose tradition there is
a beautiful legend created by the great writer and folklorist Don Francisco
Quevedo Ara, of so much credit, that it must be reproduced for the knowledge
and delight of the current children of Cunduacán and of the entire State.
