Virgil Abloh was an American fashion designer, founder of the brand Off-White
and the first African-descendant creative director in charge of the men’s
collections of Louis Vuitton. Virgil Abloh was born in the 80s in the outskirts of
Chicago, the city where his parents emigrated. There he grew up surrounded by
urban culture, skate and hip-hop. He studied at a Catholic school and went to the
University of Wisconsin where he met Kanye West, his future partner. Together
with West, he would start working at Fendi, an experience that would introduce
him to the fashion circuit. In 2012 he created his first brand, Pyrex Vision. Just a
year later, in September 2013, he founded his first great success, the firm Off-
White. In November 2021, the sad news of his death was announced as a result
of a rare and aggressive cancer that had been diagnosed two years earlier.
