Smartphones contain either a keyboard integrated with the telephone number pad or a
standard “QWERTY” keyboard for text messaging, e-mailing, and using Web browsers.
“Virtual” keyboards can be integrated into a touch-screen design. Smartphones often
have a built-in camera for recording and transmitting photographs and short videos. In
addition, many smartphones can access Wi-Fi “hot spots” so that users can access VoIP
(voice over Internet protocol) rather than pay cellular telephone transmission fees. The
growing capabilities of handheld devices and transmission protocols have enabled a
growing number of inventive and fanciful applications—for instance, “augmented
reality,” in which a smartphone’s global positioning system (GPS) location chip can be
used to overlay the phone’s camera view of a street scene with local tidbits of
information, such as the identity of stores, points of interest, or real estate listings.
reiterar palabras.
The first smartphone was designed by IBM and sold by BellSouth (formerly part of the
AT&T Corporation) in 1993. It included a touchscreen interface for accessing its calendar,
address book, calculator, and other functions.
…Research in Motion’s BlackBerry and Apple Inc.’s iPhone have their own proprietary
systems.
Según este texto, ¿Quiénes tienen sus propios sistemas?

o El crecimiento poblacional lleva a niveles de consumo de los recursos naturales
insostenibles.
o Uno de los factores que genera pérdida de la biodiversidad es la presencia de
especies invasivas.
Earth’s natural resources include air, minerals, plants, soil, water, and wildlife. Conservation is the care and
protection of these resources so that they can persist for future generations. It includes maintaining diversity of
species, genes, and ecosystems, as well as functions of the environment, such as nutrient cycling.
Conservation is similar to preservation, but while both relate to the protection of nature, they strive to
accomplish this task in different ways. Conservation seeks the sustainable use of nature by humans, for activities
such as hunting, logging, or mining, while preservation means protecting nature from human use.
This difference is illustrated by how the United States manages its public lands. The goal of National Parks, for
instance, is preservation with an emphasis on causing minimal change to the landscape or environment,
meanwhile National Forests can be used for cattle grazing, lumber, hunting, and recreation.
Continued human population growth has led to unsustainable rates of consumption of our natural resources,
resulting in a loss of Earth’s biodiversity. The main factors driving biodiversity loss include habitat destruction,
climate change, invasive species, overexploitation, and pollution.
Declining biodiversity is closely intertwined with species extinction. While extinction is a normal process of
nature, the rate at which it is happening today is not. Scientists estimate that current extinction rates are about
a thousand times higher now than would be expected based on the fossil record, and that we may be experiencing
a mass extinction event, which is when 75 percent or more species are lost at a time.

o Teniendo en cuenta el párrafo #3, identifiquen al menos dos motivaciones del
hacktivismo.
o ¿Quiénes estarían en contra de la posición moral del hacker?
What is Hacktivism?
Derived from combining the words ‘Hack’ and ‘Activism’, hacktivism is the act of hacking, or breaking into a
computer system, for politically or socially motivated purposes. The individual who performs an act of hacktivism
is said to be a hacktivist. The hacktivist who does such acts, such as defacing an organization’s website or leaking
that organization’s information, aims to send a message through their activities and gain visibility for a cause they
are promoting.
4. Esta vez, trabajaremos con una parte del texto que encuentran en
https://www.techtarget.com/searchsecurity/definition/hacktivism
Hacktivism is meant to call the public's attention to something the hacktivist believes is an important issue or
cause, such as freedom of information, human rights or a religious point of view. Hacktivists express their support
of a social cause or opposition to an organization by displaying messages or images on the website of the
organization they believe is doing something wrong or whose message or activities they oppose.
