to give adequate forecasts concerning coming events for the fu-
ture. We live at a time when leading scientists, economists, profes-

age are concerned about the future.

As God draws back the curtain that hides the future, we look
through the window of Bible prophecy and see clearly what will
take place tomorrow. Here is an amazing promise from God's
8 Holy Word:

12 The Bible clearly gives us hope for our tomorrow. It reveals God's
future plans for this world in an ancient king's dream. Let's find
out about this dream.

13 One night an ancient king who lived in the city of Babylon in 606
B.C., was thinking about the future, wondering what it might hold
for him and his kingdom. God gave him a
remarkable dream outlining world history for over 2500 years—
from his day until the end of time.
13 Una noche, un antiguo rey que vivía en la ciudad de Babilonia
en el 606 aC, estaba pensando en el futuro, preguntándose lo que
podría deparar para él y su reino. Dios le dio una
notable sueño esbozar la historia del mundo desde hace más de

14 When he awoke he was very troubled because he couldn't remem-

ber his dream. He put great import on dreams. The Bible tells the
story:

15 Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the as-
trologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his
dreams. Daniel 2:2.

16 The wise men were anxious to hear the king's dream.

17 And the king said to them, I have had a dream, and my spirit
is anxious to know the dream. Daniel 2:3.

18 They were unable to tell the dream and readily admitted that only
the God whose dwelling was not with men could tell what the king
requested. However, they were not in contact with Him. Desper-
ately they stalled for time. But their hesitant gestures soon indi-
cated to the king that these men were frauds. Hot with anger the
king commanded: "Execute them! Execute all the wise men of
Babylon.”
18 No fueron capaces de decirle al sueño y fácilmente admitió
que sólo el Dios cuya morada no estaba con los hombres podía de-

19 Daniel and his three friends were listed among the wise men of
Babylon and were also subject to the king's death decree.

20 So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he
might tell the king the interpretation. Daniel 2:16.

21 His request was granted and Daniel returned home and urged his
three friends to pray with him that God might reveal the dream to
them. And God did not fail to hear and honor those earnest
prayers.

22 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel and the next
morning Arioch took Daniel to the king. As the king looked out
intently at the young man before him he asked if Daniel could re-
veal his dream, and Daniel replied:

23 The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the as-
trologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to
the king.

24 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has
made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the lat-
ter days. Daniel 2:27, 28.

25 Now, listen carefully to the king's most unusual dream: You, O

king, were watching; and behold, a great image!

26 …This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of sil-
ver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly
of iron and partly of clay. Daniel 2:31-33.

27 You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which
struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in
pieces…

28 And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain
and filled the whole earth. Daniel 2:34, 35.

29 Maybe you are wondering how this strange dream could possibly
be of importance to us living today. Perhaps Nebuchadnezzar
wondered about that, also. But we shall soon learn that the dream
given by God so long ago to an ancient king speaks in a very dra-
matic way to each of us. In only 150 words God sketched the main
course of history from Babylon's day, 600 years before Christ, to
the climax of Earth's history. In the dream, God pulled back the
curtain of history in advance.
29 Tal vez usted se está preguntando cómo podría ser este extraño
sueño de importancia para nosotros que vivimos hoy. Quizás
Nabucodonosor se preguntó sobre eso, también. Pero pronto nos
enteraremos de que el sueño dado por Dios hace tanto tiempo a un

30 King Nebuchadnezzar and young Daniel found themselves look-
ing down through the centuries for all time to come. Breathlessly
the king waited for the interpretation. What could it all mean?
Daniel begins:
30 El rey Nabucodonosor y el joven Daniel se encontraron mi-
rando hacia abajo a través de los siglos por todos los tiempos por
venir. Sin aliento el rey esperó a la interpretación. ¿Qué podría

31 “…you are this head of gold. Daniel 2:38.”

32 Babylon the head! Babylon a nation of pure gold! A smile of satis-
faction must have crossed the king's face as he heard those words.
What a pleasing beginning for the king who had built this great
empire.
Babylon's proud monarch apparently gave no thought to the idea
that any other nation
would ever rule the world. In fact, clay tablets excavated by ar-
chaeologists are inscribed with these words: “These portals for
the astonishment of multitudes of people with
beauty I adorned…May it last forever” –Nebuchadnezzar
32 Babilonia, la cabeza! Babilonia, una nación de oro puro! Una
sonrisa de satisfacción debe haber cruzado la cara del rey al es-
cuchar esas palabras. ¡Qué agradable comienzo para el rey que
había construido este gran imperio.

33 The military conquests and the architectural splendor of Babylon

were unsurpassed. Historians confirm that gold was a fitting sym-
bol to represent the Babylonian kingdom. An abundance of gold
was used in embellishing the buildings of Babylon.

34 One historian described the great ancient city thus: “…there, with
the whole earth prostrate at her feet, a queen in peerless
grandeur…

35 “…stood this city, fit capital of that kingdom which was repre-
sented by the golden head.” Daniel and the Revelation, pages

36 Daniel had a message that God wanted revealed to the world, not
just for his time, but a message that would be relevant to the end
of Earth's history—and Daniel had the courage to present it.
Courageously, he said,

sólo para su tiempo, pero un mensaje que sería relevante para el

37 But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours.

38 Daniel lived to see it happen, the silver kingdom replacing the

gold one. For on October 13, 539 B.C., the golden kingdom of
Babylon came to an inglorious end.

39 During the reign of Belshazzar, Nebuchadnezzar's proud and arro-
gant grandson, Cyrus the Mede laid siege to Babylon. Feeling
recklessly secure in his capital and foolishly ignoring this aggres-
sion, King Belshazzar arranged a great feast for a thousand of his
nobles. To show his defiance to the God of Heaven, he com-
manded that the golden vessels taken by his grandfather from the
temple in Jerusalem be brought to his table.
39 Durante el reinado de Belsasar, nieto orgulloso y arrogante de
Nabucodonosor, Ciro el Medo sitió a Babilonia. Sentirse seguro
imprudentemente en su capital y tontamente ignorar esta agresión,
el rey Belsasar organizó un gran banquete a mil de sus nobles.
Para mostrar su desafío al Dios de los cielos, él ordenó que los va-
sos de oro que había adoptado su abuelo desde el templo en

40 …and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines
drank from them.

41 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver,
bronze and iron, wood and stone. Daniel 5:3, 4.

42 In the midst of this revelry a bloodless hand began to etch in fiery

letters across the plastered wall of the banquet hall, words which
no one could understand. Terrified, the people ceased their festivi-
ties. The Bible says the king was so frightened that his knees
smote one another and his legs failed him.
42 En medio de este jolgorio mano sin sangre comenzó a grabar
en letras de fuego en toda la pared de yeso de la sala de banquetes,
palabras que nadie podía entender. Aterrorizado, el pueblo dejó

43 Like his grandfather, Belshazzar summoned the enchanters, as-
trologers, and diviners to tell him what the mysterious message
was. Despite the promise of rewards, no one could read those fate-
ful words. Finally, the queen mother appeared in the banquet hall
and reminded Belshazzar of Daniel, who decades before had re-
vealed the meaning of Nebuchadnezzar's dream. The prophet was
summoned. Again the king made his offer of wealth and position.
The aged Daniel quickly told the king to keep his gifts, that he
would read the writing and tell the interpretation. Still trembling
with fear, the king waited for Daniel's interpretation.
43 Al igual que su abuelo, Belsasar convocó a los hechiceros, as-
trólogos y adivinos para que le dijesen cuál era el misterioso men-
saje. A pesar de la promesa de recompensas, nadie podía leer esas
fatídicas palabras. Por último, la reina madre apareció en la sala de
banquetes y recordó a Belsasar de Daniel, que décadas antes había
revelado el significado del sueño de Nabucodonosor. El profeta
fue convocado. Una vez más el rey hizo su oferta de riqueza y
posición. El anciano le dijo a Daniel rápidamente el rey para man-
tener sus dones, que iba a leer la escritura y decirle a la inter-

44 MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN… God has numbered

your kingdom, and finished it… Your kingdom has been di-
vided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Daniel 5:25-28.

45 As Daniel's solemn words ended, a messenger came with the news
that the city had been taken. The Medes and Persians had diverted
the Euphrates River, which intersected the city, out of its channel.
They had marched down the river bed into the city through the
massive brass gates that had been carelessly left unlocked. The
city was filled with enemy soldiers. The triumphant shouts of the
army of Cyrus could be heard above the terrified cries of the revel-
ers.
45 Cuando terminaron las solemnes palabras de Daniel, llegó un
mensajero con la noticia de que la ciudad había sido tomada. Los
medos y los persas habían desviado el río Eufrates, que cruzaba la
ciudad, fuera de su canal. Se habían marchado por el lecho del río

46 Through the Prophet Isaiah, God had described the strategy by

which the city was to be taken, even naming the general who
would accomplish it, 150 years before that general was born!

47 Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right

48 … to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will

49 You see, this is not a human Book. It is a divine Book! It predicts
the rise and fall of mighty empires. God's Word is reliable—it
foretells the future.

50 The kingdom represented by the chest and arms of silver would

not rule forever. Notice what Daniel said would happen:

51 …then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule

over all the earth. Daniel 2:39.

52 The brilliant young general, Alexander the Great, defeated Darius

III of Persia, in the battle of Arbela, 331 B.C. At the youthful age
of 23, young Alexander became ruler over the most extensive em-
pire the world had known.

III de Persia, en la batalla de Arbela, 331 BC A la edad juvenil de
23 años, el joven Alejandro se convirtió en soberano del más ex-

53 Arian, the great historian said: “I am persuaded there was no

nation, city nor people…where his name did not reach…There
seems to have been some divine hand presiding over his work
and action.”

54 Much of the armor worn by Greek infantry was made of brass.
The historian Herodotus described Greek pirates as "men of
bronze coming from the sea.”

55 The Bible said there would be a fourth world empire—an empire

represented by the legs of iron. Daniel continued the interpretation

56 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron…and like

iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush

57 What great empire overthrew Greece? What nation ruled during

the life of Christ? It was the Roman Empire, the fourth world em-
pire, ruled by the Caesars and emperors from 168 B.C to 476 B.C.

rante la vida de Cristo? Fue el Imperio Romano, el cuarto imperio

dom shall be divided…

61 Rome was a ruthless nation, ruling with a "Rod of Iron." Her Cae-
sars called themselves gods and demanded worship and obedience
from all men. She was the longest lived and most extensive of the
four world empires.

62 Now the pattern of the prophecy changed. Surprisingly, no world
empire to succeed Rome is predicted by Daniel. Instead, now
notice what happens to Rome: Whereas you saw the feet and
toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom
shall be divided. Daniel 2:41. God accurately predicted that an-
cient Rome would not be followed by another world empire, but it
would be divided and come to an end. This giant empire, which
had ruled for 600 years, disintegrated.
62 Ahora el patrón de la profecía cambió. Sorprendentemente,
ningún imperio mundial después de Roma tendrá éxito según
Daniel. En cambio, ahora vean lo que sucede a Roma: lo que viste

63 Through luxury, political corruption, and moral decay, Rome lost

its stability and strength, becoming easy prey for tribes of barbar-
ians that began to invade the empire during the fourth century
A.D.

Roma perdió su estabilidad y resistencia, convirtiéndose en presa

here with their modern counterparts:
Alemanni – Germans
Burgundians – Swiss
Franks – French

The modern nations of Europe developed from these tribes of the
divided Roman Empire. Some were strong, some weak.

65 But there is more to this prophetic interpretation. Now Daniel

came to the most important part of the prophecy for those of us
living in the 21st century.

68 Many world rulers have tried to weld the nations of Europe to-
gether by royal marriages, "mingling themselves with the seed of
men." By the first decade of the 20th century, virtually every
crowned head of Europe was related, but that didn't prevent World
War I.

71 And not even the great Napoleon Bonaparte could weld together
the broken parts of the Roman Empire. At the age of 29, Napoleon
overthrew the government of France and set out to conquer the
world. It appeared that nothing would stop him.

72 At the height of his power, Napoleon decided to defeat and occupy

Russia. This expedition ended in disaster. He was defeated by the
Russian army and the winter cold. He left almost half of his army
frozen on the Russian battlefield. This Arch of Triumph is a re-
minder of Napoleon's great defeat in Russia.

Rusia. Esta expedición terminó en un desastre. Fue derrotado por

73 On June 18, 1815, at Waterloo, his artillery became bogged down

in the mud because of the heavy rains and one of his generals mis-
understood his orders.

74 Napoleon himself is reported to have said, “God almighty has

been too much for me.” Yes, God's prophecy stood fast!

75 Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany and later Hitler tried to marshal the
world under one flag, but both ended in defeat. Hitler made the
same mistake as Napoleon, leaving a vital portion of his army on
the battlefield when he tried to conquer Russia during World War
II.

76 A fitting epitaph for all these would-be rulers is, “THEY WILL

been made and will be made to bring about another world empire,
but no man, no group of men, or combinations of powers, can ever
bring unity for long; for God said, “THEY WILL NOT AD-
HERE TO ONE ANOTHER”.
The Bible predicted that Rome would be succeeded by ten divided
kingdoms. Seven of these nations are represented in Western Eu-
rope today; some are strong, some are weak.
76 Un epitafio adecuado para todos estos aspirantes a gobernantes
es, "no van a adherirse unas a otras". Otros intentos se han hecho y
se harán para lograr otro imperio mundial, pero ningún hombre,

77 What would happen next? With obvious joy and confidence,

Daniel came to the astounding climax of this prophecy.

kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom

80 There will never be another world empire! Not as we know them.

God said that in the days of the kings represented by the ten toes—
the nations of Europe today—that He will set up a kingdom to end
all earthly kingdoms, one that will last forever.

81 The next great event on the stage of human history will be the Sec-
ond Coming of Jesus. The establishment of His kingdom, repre-
sented by the stone "cut out without hands." A kingdom founded
not by the hands of men, but by the mighty hand of God.

82 A kingdom that will fill the whole Earth! Then will be fulfilled the
prophecy: The kingdoms of this world have become the king-
doms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever
and ever!” Revelation 11:15.

83 When Daniel concluded the sensational vision and God's astound-

ing interpretation, King Nebuchadnezzar slowly rose from his
throne and humbly prostrated himself before Daniel in honor of
Daniel's great God, whose wisdom and power had been so impres-
sively demonstrated. He acknowledged:

metal image seen by Nebuchadnezzar in his dream six centuries
before the birth of Christ. The kingdoms represented by the gold,
the silver, the brass, and the iron have all passed into history.

imagen gigante de metal vista por Nabucodonosor en su sueño,
seis siglos antes del nacimiento de Cristo. Los reinos representa-

86 Where are we living today? What will the next great glorious
drama be? Christ and His coming and eternity! Yes, the kingdom
of Christ is coming soon. Sooner than we might think. As we look
at the signs given in Scripture which will precede Christ's return, it
makes you wonder if we might even now be on the edge of tomor-
row.
86 ¿Dónde estamos viviendo hoy? ¿Cuál será el próximo gran
