Bueno, el recorrido del city bike tour consta de 19 kilometros en total a un ritmo moderado.

Iniciamos en la plaza de armas, visitando un total de 10 lugares, entre ellos: museos y

monumentos importantes, almuerzo en restaurante el arriero, donde descenderemos por la
costanera hasta retornar a plaza de armas.

dirigiremos al primer destino.

en el año 1932. Conocido por su combinación culinaria única y potente, choripán

Luego, a las 09:40 - en plaza de armas recogeremos las bicicletas y hablaremos de historia

La Plaza de Armas se ubica en el Centro Histórico de la comuna de Punta Arenas, conocida

acompañado de la escultura de una mujer y de un indígena patagón.
Fue inaugurada en 1920 en el cuarto centenario del descubrimiento del Estrecho de

Debe su nombre a una cruz de madera que trajo el presbítero Rafael Eyzaguirre, en 1881.
Eran épocas de batallas.
Bueno, para llegar hasta el mirador debemos subir largas escalinatas (Las bicicletas
quedarán a unas 3 cuadras.)
Este mirador es un hito de especial importancia porque desde él se aprecia gran parte de
la ciudad y el estrecho de Magallanes y algunas veces la isla de Tierra del Fuego.

10:40 a 12:30- Maggiorino Borgatello Museum

Vamos, ingresemos al museo, en él tendrán aproximadamente 2 horas para recorrer de

forma libre. Nos encontraremos a las 12:20 hrs. en este Hall de entrada para continuar
nuestro recorrido por un interesante jardín que alberga ilustres personajes de la historia
de Punta Arenas, como colonos, comerciantes y pioneros en la zona.

Este museo fue fundado el 18 de septiembre de 1893, siendo su primer director el Padre
Maggiorino Borgatello e inicialmente el museo estuvo en el viejo edificio del Colegio San
José, donde poco a poco fue ampliándose hasta que a fines de 1929 y por gestión del
Padre Aliberti (1881-1953) se construyó un nuevo edificio colindante al Santuario María
Auxiliadora, en donde se trasladó el museo, resultando un lugar mucho más apropiado
para la conservación y exposición de las colecciones.

Pasó por variados procesos de actualización y extensión de especies,aumentando su

capacidad en 1981, utilizando el segundo piso el primer nivel del edificio colindante de dos
pisos construido en 1929 y en 1999, un nuevo edificio de tres pisos que se une al edificio
existente con un total de 1700 m2 que forma el actual museo.

El museo, para su conocimiento, cuenta con cuatro niveles de exhibición de las diversas
colecciones donde destacan aquellas que representan la flora, fauna, antropología,
paleontología, arqueología, historia y siempre teniendo como referente a la cultura de los
pueblos y sus territorios de la Patagonia y Tierra del Fuego.

En su primer nivel se expone la sala extraterritorial, fauna mayor y menor, en el segundo

nivel se encuentra la exposición de pueblos originarios, como Selknam, Aonikenk,
Kawésqar, Yagan, las misiones salesianas y la vida del padre Alberto de Agostini. El tercer
nivel cuenta la cosmovisión Selk'nam, inmigración, Antártica y la expansión de la Iglesia en
Magallanes y por último en su cuarto nivel encontrarán la sala temática de ENAP, GASCO,
Mina Invierno y Aviación.

Constituye el tercer museo más antiguo de Chile y uno de los más importantes en su
género a nivel mundial.

Ya chicos, ahora que nos reunimos, les pediré que pasen a los servicios higiénicos y
continuemos nuestro camino a uno de los cementerios más australes de Chile.

12:40 - Sara Brown Cemetery

Hey chicos, cómo están para recorrer uno de los más bellos cementerios de Chile. Nos
esperan grandes fotografías, en las que se llevarán las mejores postales del sur de Chile.
El cementerio Municipal Sarta Braun, llamado así por la primera mujer empresaria de
Punta Arenas, que donó los cierres perimetrales y su hermoso pórtico, se construyó el
1919 por el ingeniero Fortunato Circutti.
Previo a ello, el 1894 el gobernador Señoret compró este terreno alejado de la población,
cuya fundación se realizó bajo el mandato de Jorge Montt, inaugurando el 18 de abril de
ese año. Esto en el contexto de la migración europea en la Región de Magallanes a finales
del siglo XIX, motivados por hallazgos de oro en Tierra del Fuego, la introducción y crianza
de la oveja y las facilidades para la instalación de colonos para el desarrollo de actividades
económicas y poblamiento de la zona.
Este conjunto arquitectónico de 4 hectáreas, posee diversas influencias de vanguardias
europeas, y además se emplaza en la Av. Bulnes, en un tramo arbolado con abedules y
cipreses canadienses. En su interior posee una explanada y plaza central y como desafío
tiene que buscar un elemento característico que es una gran cruz donada por Alfonso
Menéndez, así que el primero que se saque una foto allí, se ganará una sorpresa.
Además se pueden apreciar mausoleos, sepulturas, cercados con reja de fierro forjado y
su edificio, con distintos estilos y ornamentos, con variados trabajos escultóricos.
Aquí se pueden encontrar algunos personajes destacados, como la última descendiente de
Yagán, la Sra Margarita Molinari Eden, quien falleció el año 1999. Se ubica en el Nicho 5
Tramo 8 Poniente.
Además del fundador de la Cruz Roja Chilena, don Vitorio Cuccuini, quién falleció en 1906
y se puede encontrar en el patio 52 Línea 1 Cuartel 2 Sur.
Chicos, nuestro recorrido termina aquí, luego de 50 minutos de observar las maravillas y
ornamentos de este lugar, nos dirigiremos a un monumento que se dedica a un personaje
esencial en la idiosincrasia magallánica.

The Sarta Braun Municipal Cemetery, named after the first businesswoman of Punta
Arenas, who donated the perimeter closures and it's beautiful front, was built in 1919 by
the engineer Fortunato Circutti.
Prior to this, in 1894, Governor Señoret bought this land far from the town, whose
foundation was made under the mandate of Jorge Montt, inaugurating on April 18 of that
year. This in the context of the European migration in the Magallanes Region at the end of

13:30 13:40 - El Ovejero Monument
Hemos llegado al corazón de la patagonia, el ovejero, quién arrea las ovejas en la
adversidad del paisaje, y quién resguarda la riqueza ganadera de las estancias
patagónicas. Esta representa al peón rural arqueado por la ventisca, acompañado por dos
perros, su caballo y ocho ovejas representa el auge económico del s. XIX y comienzos del
XX.
Fué creada por el escultor Germán Montero y solicitado por el general Ramón Cañas
Montalva en el año 1944, quién se inspiró en los fragmentos del poema “El ovejero de mi
tierra”, del poeta magallánico José Grimaldi Acotto.
Está confeccionado en granito de forma inicial en 1944, siendo inaugurado en 1962 y
confeccionado posteriormente en bronce.
Ingles: We have arrived at the heart of Patagonia, the shepherd, who herds the sheep in
the adversity of the landscape, and who protects the livestock wealth of the Patagonian
ranches. This one represents the rural laborer arched by the blizzard, accompanied by
two dogs, his horse and eight sheep represents the economic boom of the XIX century and
the beginning of the XX century.

Hoy tenemos menú para todos los gustos en la picá de la abuela, con el plato principal, el
cordero magallánico. Tenemos alternativas veganas y vegetarianas que van a llegar a las
personas que se inscribieron al inicio del tour.
Tenemos 1 hora y 15 minutos para almorzar y ocupar los servicios higiénicos.
Esta parada es para recargarnos de energía ya que conoceremos un museo de sitio con
relevancia histórica para la ciudad por su experiencia realística.

15:00 - Inicia pedaleo a Museo Nao Victoria (pedaleo 15 min)

Estaremos andando en bicicleta durante 15 min. en camino al museo Nao Victoria, contemplando y
sintiendo el entorno.

Entonces, el museo Nao Victoria está ubicado en las afueras de la ciudad.

En los servicios que entrega este museo podemos encontrar, Estacionamiento, Baños y Oficina de
informaciones con una amplia terraza para sentarse y disfrutar de este lindo lugar frente al Estrecho
de Magallanes.

(We will be riding a bike for 15 min. on the way to the Nao Victoria museum, contemplating and
feeling the landscape.

So, the Nao Victoria museum is located out of town.

In the services that this museum provides, we can find Parking, Bathrooms and Information Office
with a large terrace to sit and enjoy this beautiful place in front of the Strait of Magallanes.)

15:30 - Museo Nao Victoria ( visita 30 min)

La Nao Victoria es una réplica a escala real del barco de Hernando de Magallanes. Un atractivo
turístico cultural, que ha estado abierto al público desde el 1 de octubre de 2011, permite vivir la
experiencia a bordo a través de sonidos ambientales, réplicas de objetos de uso cotidiano,
instrumentos de navegación y artillería, retrocediendo 500 años en la historia.

Además podrás visitar la réplica de la Goleta Ancud, y el espectacular HMS Beagle, barco que fue
enviado para inspeccionar las costas meridionales de América del Sur, abordado por el naturalista
Charles Darwin.

(The Nao Victoria is a full-scale replica of Hernando de Magallanes ship. It is a cultural tourist
attraction, which shows you the experience of living on board through sounds, replicas of everyday
objects, navigation instruments and artillery, going back 500 years in history.
It has been open to the public since October 1, 2011.

You can also visit the replica of the Goleta Ancud, and the spectacular HMS Beagle, a ship that was

16:00 - Recorrido por la costanera

Estaremos en un recorrido por la costanera de esta hermosa ciudad durante 45 min. Aprox. y
tendremos la posibilidad de avistar distintas especies de flora y fauna representativa de la zona
austral de Chile, dependiendo de hacia donde enfoquemos nuestra atención.

Si observamos, por la vía terrestre en flora podremos ver el Coihue magallánico, lenga y ñirre, entre
otras flores. Y en fauna, si tenemos suerte podremos ver guanacos, huemules y zorros.

Por otro lado, vía marítima, veremos, albatros, cóndores, pingüinos, entre otros.

(We will be on a tour along the waterfront of this beautiful city for 45 min. Approx. and we will have
the opportunity to see different species of flora and fauna representative of the southern zone of
Chile, depending on where we focus our attention.

If we observe, by land, in flora we can see the Magellanic Coihue, lenga and ñirre, among other

16:45 - Mercado municipal

En el mercado municipal podemos compartir con la comunidad y se pueden adquirir mariscos y

pescados frescos, degustando exquisitos menús de la cocina Chilena. En el lugar también es posible
encontrar artesanía típica de la zona.

Se encuentra situado en una de las principales avenidas de Punta Arenas, en la Avenida Costanera,
ubicado a 5 cuadras de la Plaza de Armas Muñoz Gamero.

Y en el tercer piso encontramos un patio de comidas con vista panorámica al Estrecho de Magallanes,
y con respecto al souvenir te recomendamos recorrer bien el lugar, para ver cual de todos los
productos se acerca a tu presupuesto.

Estaremos hasta las 17:25 en el mercado municipal para proceder a finalizar la actividad.

Damos por finalizado el tour, bajandonos de la bicicletas, haciendo unos breves ejercicios de
estiramiento y elongación.

Procedemos a sentarnos en círculo y comentamos lo realizado en el día, haciendo un recuento de la

actividad, las anécdotas, los lugares llamativos, la sensación de cada uno por la experiencia, entre
otros.
