a) Frente sencillo F1: 9 pulsadores y 5 dígitos numéricos,
separable e~uivalente a F1 y F2,

valor menor posible (Preferible ROE< 2).

2.- EQUIPMENT PRESENTATION
The TEL TRONIC P-2500 radiotelephone is a mobile transceiver far use ¡
professional communication in terrestrial mobile services.
The concept of the P-2500 incorporates the most modern electronic desigri
with simplicity of maintenance. lt has been designed to operate by
centralized microprocessor, and the latest computer-assisted design (CAD)
techniques and superficial mounting components (SMID) were used in its
manufacture. ·
The base station contains the radio and control hardware. lt
different configurations to cover a wide range of users:
a) Plain front F1: 9 push-buttons y 5 numerical digits,
b) C0mplex front F2: 20 push-buttons y 10 numerical digits,
c) Blind frc:mt F3: far two types of detachable front equivalent to ,
F1 and F2
In the. case of •fronts F1 and F2 the radio has a front connector, for the
microphone connection.
In the case of ,front F3 the loudspeaker, microJ!>hone and keypad are
inteeirated, in a manual control which facilitates user operations on the. radio.·
and allows the base station to be hidden from view.
The rear part has a power supply connector anda PL socket far the antenna.
-2-
he radio is very powerful and able to perform diverse operations:
t scans between various pre-set frequencies at high speed and runs the
'priority function in an extremely short time. These functions are carried out
without affecting the communication in progress.
lt provides great flexibility in channel configuration: simplex or semiduplex
communication, reception or transmission programming, bandwidths of 12.5
'.: or 25 Khz or multiples, totally independent subtone code in transmission and
, reception, transmission timing by channel, and different parameters of 5-tone
· selectivity such as identification use transponder, etc ..
·•· The characteristics and information which define its specific configuration are
· programmed via the front connector by means of a programme developed to
be used by a P.C. Thus the cloned programme allows transfer of information
from one programmed set to another by mea ns of a simple operation.
. "
. 3.- INSTALLATION
The proper operation of the P-2500 depends largely on its installation in the
vehicle. · lt is therefore highly recommended that the following instructions are
closely adhered to, especially when referring to the installation of t~e ·antenna
on the vehicle.
-3-
~--------------------1111111111111
3.1.- POWER SUPPLY CONNECTION
The P-2500 must be supplied with a nominal 12V continuous tensio~
(minimum 1o. av and maximum 15.6V), which can supply an 8 amp. current:
This input is protected by an 8 amp. fuse installed in the power supply tag.
The power supply cable must have a minimum diameter of 1.5 mm2 •
The colour scheme of the power supply connector is as follows:
. . . . - - - - - - - - Relay / Brown
. . - - - Ground I Black
Ground I Black
o 1
o
+ Power supply I Red
-4-
.2.· RADIO INSTALLATION IN VEHICLES
' hen installing the radio in the interior of the vehicle, the following points
,,:hould be considered:
_ Easy access to the system.
_ Visual access to displays such as volume, channel, etc.
_ Easy cable access from the power supply and from antenna.
_ Need to lengthen the antenna cable.
The cables should not be posiUotied near any places of high temperature.
tnstallation of the antenna cable and power supply cable should be carried
, out prior to the definitive installation of the radio set.
-5-
3.3.- MOUNTING THE ANTENNA
A compatible antenna far the P-2500 radiotelephone must have the followin
characteristics:
- 50 ohm impedance.
- Length 1/4 or 5/8.
- 50 ohm coaxial cable.
Reception gain: 0/2 dB.
lf possi01e, the antenna should be mounted in the centre of the roof. lf the
roof or mounting surface is not metallic, a metal plate should be placed and
the wire soldered to the plate and from there to the vehicle chassis.
The stationary wave ratio (SWR) should have the lowest possible value:
(Preferable SWR < 2).
In the case of installations in areas where there is a positive charge, the radio:
and the antenna must,,be isolated from the metallic parts of the vehicle, and
four 47 nF condensers must be placed on the wire of the cable which runs to.
the vehicle chassis.
For complicated installations.ttie company should be consulted to provide the
best solution.
.4.· RADIO INSTALLATION IN FIXED L9CATIONS
Jn fixed locations, the following considerations must be taken into account:
.That the chassis of the radio is connected to the ground of the installation.
:The radio must be situated closest to control or sensor points (see
recommended lengths in the Electromagnetic Compatibility Section) and
away from sources of heat.
'rhe characteristics of an antenna compatible with the radio must be the
sarne as in the previous section. lt must be placed· according to conditions
;recornmended by the manufacturer so that maximum performance is
. assured with respect to range, with adequate ground and stationary wave
. ratio (SWR) of the lowest possible value (preferable SWR < 2).
·. The antenna must be placed away from electronic devices and systems
. .· which may be affected by radio frequency electromagnetic energy present in
. · the antenna on transmission, and away from high tension wires, walls and
other objects which may actas transmi~si.on screeris.
3.5.- ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
The equipment meets the requirements of Advisory Directive 89/336/Ei
relating to electromagnetic compatibility, but the following must be taken int
account:
1. The radio casing must be connected to the vehicle ground or the powe
supply source.
2. In vehicular instaflation, the length of the power supply cables must bi
less· than 2 metres and must be directly connected to the batteri
terminals, to both the positive and negative terminals. lf the radi(
incorporates options which have signal inputs or outputs, the length o
these cables must be less than 2 metres.
3. In fixed locations, power supply sources which meet electromagnetic
compatibility standards must be used, and the power supply cables anc
signal input and output cables must be less than 2 metres in length.
4. In 'the- case of repair or replacement of radio parts, all shields, casings
·and electromagnetic protection parts must be replaced correctly.
5. When the cable lengths descríbed in points 2 and 3 are exceeded, it
may be necessary to take steps such. as placing screening cables and
filters along the 1/0 and power sup~ly lines which improve
electromagnetic immunity under these installation coJ;)ditions. '
-8-
•
.. SAFETY OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
diofrequency electromagnetic energy generated from equipment installed
ehicles may adversely affect the operation of electronic systems such as
¡ ,'ition, brake controls (ABS), traction and on-board computers. To
'termine whether vehicles fitted with these systems or devices will function
rrectly when the radio is transmitting, the vehicle manufacturer should be
,: nsulted.
