Las fiestas de San Pedro, también conocidas como Festival Folclórico, Reinado Nacional del Bambuco y

Muestra Internacional del Folclor, son un grupo de celebraciones que hacen parte del patrimonio cultural de
la nación.

Todos los años, entre los meses de junio y julio, se celebran las fiestas de San Pedro en la región del Huila,
específicamente en la ciudad de Neiva, al suroccidente del país. Estas fiestas, como su nombre completo lo
indica, comprenden un festival folclórico, que involucra el Reinado Nacional del Bambuco y una muestra
internacional del folclor de la región.

La costumbre de celebrar las fiestas de San Pedro viene de la tradición católica que por muchos años
impartieron los españoles durante la época de la conquista de homenajear a San Juan Bautista. Más
adelante, esta celebración se conoció también como las fiestas de San Pedro y San Juan. Desde 1970 se le
llama Festival Folclórico, Reinado Nacional del Bambuco y Muestra Internacional del Folclor.

Me gustan mucho las fiestas de san pedro porque vienen a la ciudad muchos amigos y también familiares a
tener unos días de vacaciones y pasarla bien. Por otro lado, disfrutamos bailar, recochar, gritar y por
supuesto tomarnos unas frías cervezas o algunos cocteles.

Aprovechamos también este tiempo visitando otros lugares turísticos del departamento como el desierto de
la tatacoa y los termales de rivera.

Ya al finalizar estas fiestas me gusta viajar una semana a Bogotá o Medellín para disfrutar un clima diferente
al de Neiva y por supuesto tener unos días de descanso.

been called the Folkloric Festival, the National Bambuco Reign and the International Folklore
Show.

I really like the San Pedro festivities because many friends and family members come to the city to
have a few days of vacation and have a good time. On the other hand we enjoy dancing, kicking
back, shouting and of course having some cold beers or cocktails.

We also take advantage of this time by visiting other tourist places in the department such as the
Tatacoa desert and the Rivera hot springs.

At the end of these holidays I like to travel to Bogotá or Medellín for a week to enjoy a different
climate than Neiva and of course have a few days off.
