Abstract: Agriculture is the production system with the greatest demand for
water globally; Irrigation is the activity that consumes 70% of this resource
worldwide (Roldán et al., 2009). The presence of water as well as natural
sources or artificial supply plays an important role in the development of crops.
Each research has its purpose, in relation to tomato, had the objective to
determine the water requirements of the tomato crop with the use of a drip
irrigation system powered by photovoltaic energy Lycopersicum esculentum
in the Cavaco Valley in the province of Benguela, Angola . On the other hand,
the Pinus Taeda study aimed to quantify and compare the components of the
water balance for different Pinus taeda planting in densities of an oxisol,
throughout the course of a year in the state of Paraná, southern Brazil.
From the perspectives given in the two investigations regarding the water
requirements, it was possible to perceive the importance that this tool has so as
not to damage the crops either due to the excess or little use of water; taking
into account that each production requires different volumetric quantities as well
as could be observed in the tomato and Pinus Taeda.
