Origin
Racism in America began when the Spaniards, after discovering
America, needed labor to exploit the natural resources of the area, so
they can enslave indigenous people and use blacks brought from
Africa.
Development
Racism is a type of discrimination, where one or more people hate
another person for belonging to a different race. Blacks and other
members of other races are viewed by racists as merely subhuman,
more like beasts than men.
In North America, racism dictated that different races separate from
one another; that they have to have their own distinct communities and
develop their own institutions, such as churches, schools, and
hospitals; and that it was not natural for members of different races to
marry.
The lived experience of racism for members of low-level races includes
acts of physical violence, daily insults and frequent acts, and verbal
expressions of contempt and disrespect, all of which have profound
effects on self-esteem and social relationships.
Consequences of racism.
Racism Generates hatred, resentment, divisions and conflict, between
individuals or populations
It can cause loss of life to those who practice or receive racism
Who is lost to racism can suffer from low self-esteem, in addition to
physical and psychological abuse
conclusion
Some experts believe that racism can be difficult to eradicate. In fact,
laws cannot change minds, but beliefs about human differences can
and do change, as do all cultural elements.
