Logo Usage

The Appalachian Lore logo should be presented on these background colors:

The Appalachian Lore logo may be presented on top of a picture, but it must create
stark contrast. The picture will preferrably be slightly transparent with black,

white, or grey behind it.

Logo Misusage

The Appalachian Lore logo should never be presented on a background that involves

one of its own colors:

If the logo must be placed on one of these background colors it should be an outline
in one, solid color. These colors may be Rich Black (#000000) or any of the 3

colors in the original logo.

 Appalachian Lore Magazine’s tone should be reminescent and mysterious.
To convey this feeling, the Base colors should be predominantly used.

The Bright colors should be used for contrast within the pages of the magazine. They

should be used when there is an important point, topic, or visual being highlighted.

The Calm colors should be used for relief from the darkness and contrast of the

magazine. They are subtle, unlike the rest of the magazine. They provide a break

for the reader, yet they stand out because they are so unlike the other colors.

If there are photographs they should be incorporated into the background with

a colored transparent rectangle overtop of it.

If there are pictures that need to stand out (an old portrait), they should not

have hard edges. They should be soft and feel incorporated into the page,

not just slapped on the page.

The tone of the magazine should be dark and mysterious. It should include
picures of maps, monsters and mountains. They should be used in an

ominous tone.

The magazine should not have elements that are modern, but instead rustic.

The bottom of the page should have a Base Color stripe running along the bottom.
